What is with people these days? Why can't you think of other people? Did this guy w/ the loud music live at the house he was at or visisting? If this guy had to drive to where the guy was this stereo must have been some BIG system.

There are a whole lot of people out there who don't have jobs and don't go to school, yet they are able to have a place to live and keep themselves fed. And buy drugs. If these losers were forced to work 8-10 hours a day, there would be a lot less crime!

I saw the story and it seems that the driver asked the guy to turn down the stereo and left, then it was turned back on, thats when an altercation occured...details are fuzzy but i doubt he drove into his garage to hit the guy, he was probably just trying to get the hell out of there and hit the guy

I seriously don't know what this has to do with employment. Rude is rude. My guess is that he wasn't blasting out high decibulz of the river 105. i personally get really annoyed when I hafta listen to other peopulz music when it is SUPER, SUPER LOUD. aaaaaand, the people who don't understand why exactly this should bother you, generally are not the kind that you can ask to turn it dddddooooowwwnnnn. call the cops next time guy. it aint worth gettn shot over.

My point was that a few people have way too much time on their hands, and that perhaps if they were busy eight hours a day, things like this wouldn't happen as often. People who are gainfully employed have something to lose, and tend to moderate their behavior. They usually don't have time for drugs, alcohol or gangs, and they generally don't spend their days (or nights) hanging out at home and getting into fights with other unemployed losers, who also have nothing to do all day except ride around blasting their stereos, annoying everyone within a 1/4 mile radius. Where they get the money at nearly $4/gallon is anyone's guess.

Mario was my friend and i can't believe you guys are commenting on a story that you don't enen know the details. Gibbs went and turned down the music to the truck and when Mario came outside to see what was going on, the man ran him over when he was trying to ask about his stero being turned down!!!!!!! Mario was the peacekeeper of all his friends. He has a lovely wife and beautiful kids. Have some respect. make sure you get the story right before you open your mouths.

Why would Gibbs just randomly run over a man? Mario obviously jumped on the car and was threatening Gibbs. A tragedy, yes, but it could of easily been avoided if either man would of had a cooler head.

Uh, some really shoddy reporting here - both by local television and the newspaper, we fear. This smelled from the beginning, with both media heralding Martinez as the "peacemaker" in a loud music dispute gone bad. This sounds more like a man pushed to the limit of endurance by miscreants who play their music at unbearable levels because they want to -- and to hell with everyone else. We've had it happen in front of our home, too, with the people making the noise daring us to do something about it. Police say it was "Mario's" car, that it was loud, really loud, and that Gibbs asked that it be turned down. When it was TURNED BACK UP, and who hasn't had that happen to them, Gibbs came back, took direct action and the "peacemaker" ran out of his house, jumped on Gibb's hood and roof and tried to "get at the driver." Now, I know what I would have done. Subsequent posts allege the "victim" had been drinking... we'll see. He fell off and the momentum smacked his head into the pavement. End of story. Gibbs left the scene, and who wouldn't with a housefull of people... allegedly at least one drunk, young, with shaven head, etc. etc. The media was so quick to "memorialize" this man I was immediately suspicious. Wait for the facts, but there is more to this than meets the eye.

And all I see is someone who didn't take advantage of the FREE education they got and can't use punctuation to save their life! You wanna help your dear departed friend? Go to his house (or wherever us taxpayers were paying for the family he couldn't support to live) and get to work. Help his widow care for his kids, clean up, wash clothes, go stand on the street corner soliciting (big word I know, look it up) donations to pay for his funeral,'cause I'm sure his family doesn't have the money to bury a bird in a shoebox. Start a bank account donation for his kids, it's not their fault they have losers for parents, and now the poor tots are missing their dad. It will take a lot of effort to raise those children right and make sure they don't make the poor choices their parents did, and their mother will need all the help she can get and then some. And forget about the bad karma, honey. I practice Wicca in real life, and your own bad karma comes back on YOU. Put your energy into something constructive. If everyone did this, there would be no trouble in this world.

Any more news on this? FACTS please. Tired of the candlelight vigils. FACTS. Should be a week or more before toxicology comes back. Who's car was it (no one is saying anymore, are they?) If it turns out this man acted out of frustration at a bad neighbor with no more sense than god gave a goat, I hope I'm on his jury -- if it ever gets to that point.

It's so disappointing to see how no one has the heart to say I'm sorry for your loss or to give any good words of hope to the family. I got to meet Mario once, what I saw was an honest, hard working, loyal, kindhearted man. It’s sad to see him go at such a young age. He will be missed by all. His family will be in our prayers.

Mario was a very great person! I didnt get to know him very well but he was once an employee for my family company & the son-in-law of our superintendent, I heard nothing but great things about Mario...and when I met him I knew he was a sweet, kind hearted, hard working person! He was a devoted husband, father, cousin, son, nephew and the list goes on. For all you people out there bashing on Mario and his family and that don't even know him or anything about what happend you people are just plain ignorant! I am speechless! I just can't believe how many evil people are out there! Karma is a bitch just remember that!!!

Mario was a very great person, He worked for our family company for a while and was our superintendent's sun-in-law. I didn't know him very well but what I do know is he's a sweet, kind hearted, hard working guy and this is such a tragic loss. Mario was a devoted husband, father, son, nephew and the list goes on. For all you people out there bashing on Mario and his family you people are SICK in the head, Very ignorant people out there.. and you all make me sick to my stomach. Just take a time to think about if this was one of your family members or a close friend, would you really want people to be saying all the hatred comments about them? Mario's family is in my prayers.

First and foremost, people in this world need to be more compassionate. You don't know what type of pain this family is going through until you experience it first hand. For those of you who have posted ignorant comments regarding this whole incident, I feel sorry and EMBARRASSED for you. Don't ever judge a book by its cover; never judge anything unless you know the facts to it. So I really hope that you are not teaching your children to be this ignorant. Just because a person's last name is Martinez and not a "typical American last name", please do some research before stating your ignorant opinion. Mario is a great father, a wonderful husband and takes care of his family and friends. And oh yeah, "HE OWN HIS HOME". So for those of you who ASSUMED, that he was unemployed, and didn't do anything with his life but just hang out all day....again...get your facts right before opening your ignorant mouth. It's sad that "some" people such as "William Gibbs" thought that he had the "POWER" as an "American" to walk into someone else's driveway, open up their car door and turn the music off at 3 in the afternoon. How can you have that much gut to just walk into someone else's driveway and do that? You know what that tells me, he feels that he has the power to "make" anyone do anything he wishes. Then William left in his car, came back around and still heard the music and decided to be a dumb, ignorant 45 years old and hit Mario with his car while Mario was playing football on the street with his friend (ENJOYING HIS DAY OFF OF WORK!!!!) That's right people...get your facts right. This is the perfect example of an American thinking that they have the powers over minorities. And if it bugged him so bad, have some brain and call the authorities. Mario and his wife is a hard working young couple, take care of their children and OWN their own home. So for a couple to be in their 20's, that is pretty damn good. They were junior high sweet hearts, got married and started a successful family. But William decided to handle matters in his own hands and took all that from them. William, just because you and your wife works for the county does not mean that you have the rights to take someone's life or have power to control over any other human beings. And especially over music. I say all this to say this....all you evil, heartless people out there who are making ignorant, dumb comments without knowing that facts, expressing your opinions before gathering all the facts....this could have happened to anyone. It's Mario this time, but it may just be one of your family members another time because an ignorant person couldn't control his hot head. Learn to be more compassionate and be more mature about any situation. Stop judging a book by its cover and STOP ASSUMING. If that had happened to be one of your family members, I am sure you wouldn't be posting those evil comments that most of you have posted. And to the "JUNGLE GIRL" that practice "Wicca", you are naturally evil anyways, so I expect that from you.:)

We get people insisting Mario was a thug, and relatives and friends of the dead man insisting he was a saint. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I DO find it disturbing that Gibbs drove up (so the music had to be audible for quite a ways) and had to ASK Mario to turn the music down. He only reached in AFTER the music was turned up after he'd left and he had to come back. Obviously, Mario didn't give a flying fig about bothering anyone else in the neighborhood. While this does NOT give anyone the right to run over him, it shows how he thinks. i.e. "I can play my music as loud as I want, who cares if the rest of the neighborhood doesn't want to hear it!" I'm sure Mario didn't anticipate what would happen next. I don't suppose anyone could have, but it goes a long way to illustrate the point that perhaps it's best to be polite and considerate of others. Sometimes our actions set in motion tragic events. If he had kept his stereo turned down, he'd be alive today.

I know people in that neighborhood and they told us Mario was a troublemaker and very loudmouthed. This wasn't the first time he played music that loud and disturbed everyone. He didn't care. It's sad that his kids will be without their dad and all because he was a jerk.

I think this Gibbs guy was just as big an a-hole as your friend. Maybe he was also drunk? No law against that, right? According to you. Why shouldn't he be drunk at 3 'o clock in the afternoon? It was his RIGHT to be stupid assed drunk! And how do you know the police hadn't been there already? And as for owning his own home, I plugged his name into various reliable real estate search engines and came up with nothing. He does not own his house! Quit padding the story to make your compadre look better. What happened to him was most unfortunate, but pretty predictable when two a-holes meet and neither one will give an inch. By the way, I am also a minority. My father is black and my mom is hispanic, and I am proud to be an American. And you're right, I'm also really evil, so don't push it, mija.
