I most certainly do. He went to China, which our tax dollars probably paid for. Then he didn't even go look at the plant. Really? How stupid was that. Our town in great economic strife partly because of his stupidity.

If I were so irresponsible at my job, I would be asked to leave and forced to step down.

He did not let Moberly Citizens vote and took on the responsibilty, so now, he needs to be responsble and STEP DOWN and let someone else fix teh problem.

I think we should tie Mayor Riley to some concrete blocks and dump him in the rock quarry. If he floats, he's definitely a witch.

Don't you think he was provided information he deemed reliable? Don't you also think there's four other councilmembers, a chamber of commerce, economic development, community development, downtown association, commissioners, college admin, and everyone else in between who also thought this was going to be big? Surely, you don't think Mayor Riley acted alone, as part of his evil plan to take over the world, do ya?

Moberly was kicked in the nuts, and most people go "OOOOHHHHHHH," when they see this happen instead of asking for resignations.

Pray this community & country gets back on it's feet. You don't do this by complaining at the attempts of another trying to better a community. You do this by throwing your hat in the race to see if you can do a better job.

This was not a $10 decision that you just make with some information that is given to you. This was a big deal and it is OUR money. We should of been allowed to vote on something this big. Plain and simple. He took full responsibility when he took the decision out of the hands of the taxpayers. He took full responsibility then, he should take full responsibility NOW and step down.
Now, we have new city council members and we can call on our old Mayors like Stone, Rucker and Burton (who is on the Council) and figure this thing out. Quit pointing fingers. Quit blaming others.

This is not some little mishap. THIS COULD OF BEEN PREVENTED! We cannot sweep this under the rug. Do you realize that this is NEWS all over the State and that Moberly has ruined future funding for other communities! The consequences are just not here amongst us.

This is big. Cannot and should not be ignored. Yes, the Council should be ashamed they did not do more. What about Moberly's Attorney that sits on the Council? But like most things, the person in charge has the most responsibility. When it all goes south-the person in charge needs to go!

I don't like the man either as a person even not just as the mayor however I don't wish death on anyone!

As a town we need to band together and run him out. Not kill him, just run his dumb ass to some other town. Like Stockton. Check this site out, going to be Moberlys national headline soon if we don't!

This was a good post and you are correct, I would never wish DEATH on anyone.

However, I understand the frustration and my motto is KARMA...it may take awhile, but bad people always do themselves in. But.....if I can help nudge KARMA along.....

I read the article on Stockton. That City was going bankrupt from wages/pensions/services being provided and yes, they ran out of funds. Sad. And, they went Bankrupt.

However, Riley made a multi-million deal in 17 days. Come on, you cannot get a house loan done for $50k in thirty days! That was not mismanagement, or pensions being paid out that was GIVING our money away.

I am most upset that Riley will not hand the sitution over to someone more competent, and better liked. No one wants to deal with RILEY--ask anyone in Politics in Jefferson City.

Our Rep Asbury was just trying to help the people of Moberly out but he is not hanging too close to Riley. Riley was in the parade and when he drove by, only three year olds would wave at him. EVERYONE just stood there and stared at him--made no effort to smile or wave........

THAT REALLY TOLD ME THAT THE MOBERLY PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD WHAT HAD GONE ON AND WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TRAVESTY.

It was a very telling moment.

Yes, I think that we will end up on FOX news if Riley does not step down. He wants to be stubborn but guess what, STUBBORN is what got hom into this mess and it will only get bigger but he does not care about Moberly, MOberly people or jobs. Bob Riley cares about Bob Riley, make no mistake about that!

Covergirl, do I think he ruined us intentionally-no. Do I think that he was remiss in his duties to investigate MAMTEk before signing away our City, YES I DO. Do I think that he is responsible, YES I DO. Anyone that has dealt with him, knows his immature "I wanna do it my way" attitude. Even if it is immorral or illegal--he does not care.

Business, Banks and Employees have had to pay the price for his mismanagment of the City. ANYONE who thinks that they can do a multi-million dollar deal in less than a month, cannot be mentally there.

I find it hard to believe that he is mentally well. Has someone checked this out? Has he been examined for his mental capacity?

He wasn't the only vote, or voice, is my point. when things begin "snow-balling," it's hard to reverse it's destination. Those complaining were the first ones to exercise their excitement, and now that it didn't work out, they're voicing their discontent, looking for a monster or witch to burn.

These Mamtek guys were smooth...and we got burned. Blaming one man isn't going to bring back our credit, money, or dignity. Standing together will!

Vote!

No Covergirl, the Mamtek guys were not smooth.

There are laws and procedures in place that keep "smooth" people from gett'n one over on you.

Moberly Mayor Riley and the gang, made an ill-prepared, uneducated decision of their own accord. They ignored the red flags and the information that they did not like, and went with what would fit the outcome that they wanted to achieve.

Do you not remember the Moberly Mirros's write-up about how SHE researched MAMTEK and could find no information on them........she sounded the alarm and Riley and the gang told other businesses not to buy her paper so that she would go under. The would silence the alarm.

Instead of working with her, saying hey, lets see your investigation, lets do a little more digging, lets protect our City and our MONEY---Riley forged ahead because, how dare SHE question HIM.

Covergirl--here are the facts;

Organization of city council.
78.560. 1. The city council shall at the time of organizing elect one of its members as
mayor and another as chairman pro tem for a term of one year.

*******The Council elected him as Mayor, the Council needs to ask him to step down.

2. The mayor shall preside at all meetings of the council and perform such other duties consistent with his office as may be imposed by it; and he shall have a voice and vote in its proceedings

*********says here he can vote and have a voice in proceddings.

78.580 Every resolution or ordinance passed by the council must be signed by the mayor or in his
absence by the chairman pro tem, or by two members of the council before the same shall be enforced.

78.590. Regular meetings of the council shall be held at least once every month and special meetings may be called by the mayor at the mayor's own instance or upon written
application of two members of the council. Each council member shall receive a salary as determined by ordinance of the council, payable quarterly.

*****we are paying these people with our tax dollars, therefore, we have a RIGHT to speak of discontent

The Mayor has NO VETO power? What about NOT SIGNING THE DAMN THING? Mayor Riley bullied up to the table with his pen ready to sign on the dotted line! Bamboozled by a foreign investor, failed to do his due deligence and research the matter and when Moberly Mirror brought the RED FLAGS to his attention--Mayor RIley allegedly told other businesses not to patron the Moberly Mirror,

He spoke against a business in his own town when he,as Mayor, should be SUPPORTING BUSINESSES.

Yep-Mayor Riley needs to go! NOW, City Council--do it so that other governement entities will help us out. The State Government is waiting for us to ACT. VOTE HIM OUT! ASK MAYOR RILEY TO STEP DOWN.

Missouri made this Fox News article, toward the bottom. Sixth paragraph up. It reads

“Meth labs are on the rise everywhere,” said Joe Mazzuca, operations manager for the Idaho-based Meth Lab Cleanup.“I get like 60 alerts a day, whether it’s a shake-and-bake operation in Missouri or a giant meth lab in Mexico.”
