Hmmmmmm interesting online article in the Tribune regarding MAMTEK possibly defaulting due to financial fraud. Saw that one coming a mile away. Now who were those good local leaders that claimed to have so thoroughly investigated them? Who called me when I wouldn't extend services on credit to them? Tried telling ya this deal stunk.

Wow another Moberly f%$k up that's a shocker. I say we blame the Orschlen's. The city leaders need to step down and turn the reigns over to the Bowen's and Fifer's.

Look at today article in the Columbia Tribune. Is the Moberly City Councel going to say something? Are the residents of Moberly going to have to foot the bill?

We need to THANK the Moberly Mirror for trying to warn us. That is why they shut her out so that the City Council could go on with their dirty little business. Moberly Mirror--sorry that you were trying to tell the truth and had to pay the price. The good guys seem to be outnumbered by the crooks in this town!

City Manager said on the radio Saturday the mamtek payment was due August 1 and the debt service was set up by Mamtek. Economic Development says in the paper the payment was due Sept 1 and the debt service was set up by the city. Easy for company to come in and take advantage of people like this.

Really? Is anyone surprised that the crooked politics and shady deals is finally coming back to bite them on their a$$e$. I think the Mayor and City Manager should step down at the least, and probably the economic development director and anyone else that made this mess.

Goodgirl - you are right about thanking the Moberly Mirror. They tried to tell the truth and paid the price. Don't ask too many questions, or else you'll get run out of town.

I just hope that people start digging around to uncover "the rest of the story." What was done here is criminal, and I hope the responsible parties pay for it!

I actually looked up Missouri State Statues to see the law on "HOW TO IMPEACH A MAYOR"...it seems that the rest of the Board will have to vote him out by majority unless a Circuit Court Judge will get involved. However, if I am wrong and a petition or something else can be done....let us know. This is criminal, however, Moberly PD cannot find their way out of a wet paperbag so we cannot depend on them to investigate anything criminal, now could we?

All I know is, for those con artists that send the Nigerian Princess email scams, we've got a city government full of email address they may find a good return on...

Why do you people constantly blame the Monitor Index for everything that goes south in this town. They only try to report the facts that are given to them. GROW UP!

Mmm..the money for the school should come from the State/School system and should not have anything to do with the City. I thought we had to have the funds for the State to match , BEFORE we started building. Therefore, the school should be fine. However, as I am typing--I am now wondering what affect the Mametk fiasco could have on the building of the new school. I am unsure and I can bet you that our City Government , either does not know or would never tell us. That is ok--I will call the Attorney General's Office and find out. Everyone needs to call their State Representative or go online and fill out a complaint at the Missouri Attorney General's website if they feel that illegal business dealings are taking place. If we are taxed more and the funds not being used properly....someone needs to investigate this.

Now, I am just trying to clarify--but I think that what people are trying to say about the Monitor Index is that they do not REPORT ALL OF THE FACTS. That they leave some of the most damning and important information out to protect locals. Now, I am not saying that is true, I am just trying to clarify why I think that people get upset. For instance, when a scandal broke at the school about allegations of child touching----MMI reported nothing. Then they reported too much unsubstantiated information--then, when the truth came out that the School was wrong in the Civil case--hardly NOTHING was reported. Columbia's paper reported that the other party's Attorney stated in Court Documents that a Moberly School Official lied on the stand but.....we never saw that report here in MOberly. We were never given that information. That information was omitted even though it could be verified in court documents.
This is why I THINK people get upset and blame MMI's reporting.
