I went to the dentist and he tells me I need a root canal and crown and he needs 1500 after insurance. I pay and have the procedure done. Something didn't go right and he is now telling me that there might be a hair line fracture to the tooth, meaning I will lose the tooth anyway. I recieve no money back UNLESS I go see a specialist that he wants me to go to. Does this sound right? Anyone have a dentist to recommend?

Same thing happened to me...basically. Guess what, your insurance will pobably only pay for one crown per tooth every five years. Which means, they bought that crown for that tooth and WILL NOT BUY YOU A NEW ONE for the same tooth for five years.

Write your Dentist a letter and tell him that there should be a warranty on that crown, it could of been MADE with a hair line fractrure and he needs to go back to whomever MADE THE CROWN and have them pay for it's repair.

He got your crown from somewhere OR his office makes it. They made a faulty crown. NOT YOU.

A Dentist here in town put on a crown, let it get infected, I kept going back to him and he'd check it and say all OK! Well I ended up at the ENT, had a CAT scan or MRI and had to have the work done all over..........that's how I found out my insurance will only pay for one crown for a tooth every five years. It got so infected I lost some of my hearing in the ear on that side--all because I believed him that all was OK!

Longbranch dental SAVED me. Did a wonderful job. It was so infected, they really felt sorry for me. They warned me that they were trying to save that crown because insurance would not pay for a new one. They were careful not to damage/crack it and even fixed it so it fit better and felt better than it EVER had.

They worked so hard at cleaning up another's mess. Thanks Longbranch Dental! And to the Dentist that let me be SICK for months, in pain, had permanent damage in my ear, well, I am very disappointed.

It cost me to have the crown put on, cost me to have it repaired AND all the medicine and Doctor's visits, hearing tests and testing done........Longbranch Dental on HIghway 24 (Menze's old Office) was very professional. The guy who did my root canal...wonderful. In fact, they made sure that I was out of pain during and after the procedure. I did not even finish all of my pain meds they gave me.....

Yes, I got the clue..hope all works out for you. Longbranch really felt sorry for me, took great care of me, tried to keep costs down, talked to insurance co.....they were very professional and DID NOT TALK BAD about the other Dentist. They tried to tell me the problem without downing the other Dentist. TRUE PROFESSIONALISM.(even though I wanted to walk into the OTHER dentist office and slap the Doc that had let this go on for months but I was just too sick!)

Longbranch tried really hard to save the cap...and true to his word, he saved the cap and saved me ALOT OF MONEY! Most of all, they got me out of my pain. It was so infected that he left the cap off for a week.....just to make sure that he would not have to GO BACK IN and clean out those roots again and to make sure all of the infection was gone. How gross is that? That is how bad it was. But smart thinking on his part...

Funny thing is....I was in another business and the girl behind the desk said that she had just had some dental work RE-DONE. Longbranch Dental had to REDO some work for her too and she had orginally gone to the same Dentist that had messed up capping my tooth! We both had gone to the one by the bowling alley. And BOTH had to have work fixed by Longbranch.

Similar situation for me. Took my 4 year told to have her teeth checked, doctor told me she had one cavity. we made an appointment to get it filled. Came back for that appointment, Doctor said she had two, and we needed to see a specialist in Columbia, said no big deal, just would be easier since this guy specializes in toddlers. Went to the specialist in Columbia, the doctor said she needed 4 crowns, 2 root canals and fill 7 cavities which was going to be 1700 bucks patient responsibility before they would even do surgery!!! So mad at the dentist in Moberly for not seeing this and acting like it wasnt a big deal.

I have tried to be positive about dental and medical care in Moberly but have found it to cost more and be covered less by both health and dental insurance. I have experienced incompetence in both areas. The hospital here is full of problems. Even vet care has been bizarre and inconsistent. I find myself taking my dollars to Columbia more and more.

Sad thing is that when we get GOOD Doctors in, it does not take long for them to figure things out , and they leave.

Personally, I got the feeling that if you have insurance, that you ARE NOT GOING TO GET GOOD CARE, because they want to keep you coming back so they get the $$$$$$$$. With fewer Patients....they need the ones they have to keep returning.

I want to support Moberly Doctors/Businesses but my gosh, your Health cannot AFFORD to do that.

I know one guy that has has an issue that should of been taken care of by now and he keeps records of all the Drs. visists. He knows this one Doctor keeps playing the "come back" game, just to get the insurance money. He is going to turn her into the Dept of Insurance or someone like that...

I think I know who has a reputation for doing that here in town. I know all Doctors are not like that, but it only takes a one. I know that is not fair but people should be able to have confidence in their Doctors that they are being LISTENED TO and treated correctly the first time and they should not have to be going back all the time except in certain instances.

I know that a few years back I also had an issue w/a dentist in Moberly starting two crowns then never followed thru with the return visit to finish them. That's right, had me come in early, then didn't unlock the door or answer the phone, so went on to work, etc. I ended up going to Longbranch Dental in Macon before they opened the Moberly office after the temp crowns were nearly gone and they fixed it up and put on a crown and was wonderful to work with! Very inexpensive as well especially since I didn't have insurance. They have always done a fabulous job for me and would recommend them highly!

I completely agree & my family of 6 won't be back! I've heard they have a quota to meet everyday and it's in the tens of thousands. That's why they are so eager to get repeat appointments scheduled and hound you like a dog when you miss one. If you ever get a chance to sneak a peak at the computer screens in there, you'll see what I'm talking about. The money to be made with each visit and total for the day is right there. Highway robbery is what they are committing.
