Victims are not heroes

the desicion not to grant the shooting victims at fort hood purple heats was the correct desicion in my view. these were not soldiers on the battlefield. this was basically a workplace shooting. the perpetrator, major nidal hassan, was an merican soldier, not some foreign terrorist. the victims were there to be processed out of the army. thy were simply at the wrong place at th wrong time and had no disire to get killed. there's nothing herioc about getting gunned down. purple hearts are for soldiers fighting courageously on the battlefield, not workplace shooting victims. the efforts by e texas congrssman to get the victims awarded purple hearts is wrong-headed. this is his district, so he's jut grandstanding for votes. the victims were there to be processed out of the army. they didn't get killed fighting the enemy. the pentagon folks are right that they don't meet the standrd for a purple heart. one of the victims was a pregnant lady soldier. its a well known fact that a lot of women soldiers get deliberately pregnant so they ca get sent home. this is just part of the current trend of calling everyone in uniform a ''hero.'' victims are not heroes. some ''super patriots'' have said they want the ft. hood victims to be ''recognized.'' there have been a crazy attepmt to label everwhere a battlefield in the ''war on terror.'' this was just a workplace shooting, which unfortunetely is a common occurence in this country. to try to potray the victims as brave warriors killed in battle as opposed to workplace shoting victims is absurd. they were shot by co-worker who snapped. by all indications, there are a lot of crackpots in the military. the victims deserve no medals for merely getting shot. there's a woman military police officer complaining that obama didn't keep his promises. the media reorted her as helpning to stp the shooting. actually she didn't help stop the shooting. the gunman shot her and kicked her weapon away. it was a male police officer who stopped hassan. i'm not a fan of ''recgognizing'' shooting victims. hey haven't accomplished anything. they re just shooting victims or homicide victims.he best way the army can honor the victims is to stop fooling around and ut hassan on a fast track to execution. honoring a group of army members who were being processed out of the military and were gunned down would anger soldiers wh were wounded in actual battle. all the shooting victims we have in this country is sad, but the best was to prevent shooting victims is if responsible law-abiding folks are armed. the ft hood massacre wouldn't have taken place if thosefolks were armed. there is no reason to award the ft hood shooting victims with purple hearts. they weren't in combat or on the battlefield and were leaving the army and had no intention to fight or get killed or wounded.
