Williamsburg-area pub closed, again

Full story: Hampton Roads Daily Press

A long-troubled Scottish-themed pub in the Williamsburg area has closed again, apparently this time as a result of a dispute with its Palace Plaza landlord over unpaid rent.

Sounds to me like they were well past the point of being closed down. If you or I owed back rent for a year and taxes of over 13,000 we'd be under the jail .
My big question is - what took so long?

I highly agree. I have been asking myself this since the original bar was open in Ewell Station. The sad part is that the staff and the guests have to deal with this when the owner just seems to not be able to get his crap together. Sounds like a VERY selfish individual to me. And $20 says that he is the one who responded to the email from the press. He always seems to be hiding his problems even when they are in plain view. The article talks about the bar being shut down back in August for non payment of taxes....I remember trying to go to that bar when they were closed and someone had actually taped "Closed for renovations" over the official state tax department documents. They were closed last year for renovations, actual renovations...and a week ago, their myspace site said they were closed for renovations again while all of this new stuff was happening. Come on, be a little more original...or just be smart and stop screwing yourself over. I am amazed someone like that was even able to open a second bar with a history like that.
