My parents are buried at Southpoint Cemetary & their graves are about to slide down the hill & the board of directors says that is our problem not theirs! They have the money but will not do anything. So it's up to raise the money & fix the bank.

I am sorry for the emotional anguish this must give you. Doesn't the board have the responsibility of the care and upkeep of the cemetery? Your parents plots were bought in a certain spot, with the promise they would be cared for. If they slid, they are no longer in their rightful place and they are infringing on the plots of others. Not to mention the fact that morally they should take care of the problem. Would they really want you to bring large equipment into the cemetery to take care of this. My advise...GO TO THE MEDIA....If they truly will not cooperate, then you have no other recourse. Trust me they will not want this to be published.

Thank you for the advise, I will see what we can do concerning the media. Several other graves are involved. My cousin's wife lives in KC & the rest of us live further away.
richmond aol, when Spring comes around the board will be asking for money so be prepared for a letter. Their are quite a few weeds down there now. Last year they said they repaired tombstones. When we asked for help they said,"we would be asked to help everyone then" Well every grave isn't going down the bank. Thanks for advise.

You may want to try the call for action hotline. They have a very good record for helping people with problems like this. I agree with Sue, just the threat of publicity should help your cause. My heart goes out to you Carol. This must be so stressful for you and your family.

You can't miss that section it's the third turn in if you are coming from Fleming. I would like to put up a sign saying we had to pay for this improvement to the cemetary. It is at the foot of the cemetary down by the road. Thanks for taking the time to care.

I WAS/AT the cementary today. I see what your talking about. my son was buried in august and the dead flowers are still there. the grave hasnt been leveled off yet. you pay an interment fee and they are suppose to take care of that. did you actually have to pay for the work being done///

I am sorry to hear about your son. Did you see where there was any work being done by the road on graves? I haven't talked to my relatives this week. We are all getting together & paying for a wall to stop the erosion over $5,000.

The cemetary board & funeral home seem to be at odds.

Thanks for the update, cemetary board said, "go ahead". I think they should at least help with some of the expense. The wall needs to continue but we can't afford to pay for anymore.

Did you ever drive to the top of the hill? I had never been up there..scary. Thought our car was going to drop off the hill but it is quite a view.

richmond, thank you for the update, it's been quite a long process that was suppose to last 3 days. My cousin's wife has arthritis & lives in Indep. so it's hard to keep up with the progress. Bad weather has delayed some of it. She is going to take pictures & send, my part has been $2,500. My parents would have a fit if they knew what it has cost so far. Of course some family member didn't chip in & a few gave small amounts.

Sorry you have to go there to visit your son.

Thank you for the kind words. We would like to have had enough money to complete the wall all across there, erosion is very bad & will probably get worse. My aunt & uncle are at the very end of the wall. I do know of the other families & they have been contacted so maybe in the spring they can continue the wall.

My thoughts will be with you this holiday season without your son.

Richmond aol, your son was a good boy. May he rest in peace now. I have had your family in my prayers since his death and will continue to pray for you. The loss of a child is something no mother should ever have to face. May God watch over you and yours!

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Taurus

Someone gets in a bit of a muddle today and it could take some unravelling. For instance, they might get their wires crossed, leading to all sorts of misunderstandings. You might also encounter someone who is trying to rewrite history, perhaps because they can't bear to remember things as they really were. Should you set them straight or leave well alone?
