US judges rule for teacher who called creationism 'superstitious nonsense'

There are 28 comments on the www.csmonitor.com story from Aug 20, 2011, titled US judges rule for teacher who called creationism 'superstitious nonsense'. In it, www.csmonitor.com reports that:

A public high school teacher in California may not be sued for making hostile remarks about religion in his classroom, a federal appeals court ruled on Friday.

The decision stems from a lawsuit filed by a student charging that the teacher’s hostile remarks about creationism and religious faith violated a First Amendment mandate that the government remain neutral in matters of religion.

Well, it was a science class, not a faith class.

This is exactly why religion belongs in the home, the heart, and not in the school or government.

There is no scientific reality to "Creationism."
Faith is exactly that; belief in what cannot be proven.

When faith and science compete directly in a public setting, faith will come in second.
When science and faith compete in a non-secular setting, faith holds its own.

The entire point of "Creationism" and "Intelligent Design" is so the fundie cretins can claim it is _not_ religion, and thus permitted to be taught in science classes.

Therefore the little talibangelical snot had no basis to sue this teacher for supposedly infringing on the little talibangelical snot's ignorant, cult beliefs.

Cos Creationism is "science," remember?

I don't know why the Republicans are so against the theory of evolution, they all think like DINOSAURS! If there's no separation between church and state, start taxing the churches. Corporation are "people"? Well then, start taxing them like people, too!

Maybe one day MENSA will come knocking at your door. Until then, keep dreaming. I'm sure you wish your prior statement were true. LOL! Try renaming your party, something like----Jurassic Party! Ha ha! I'm loving it!

Start taxing corporations like people? I thought all lefties were for INCREASING taxes on corporations, not reducing them.

Excellent! It's about time public schools start pushing back against the religious nutjobs. If they want to learn about creationism they can go to church.

Throughout history in every period of societal disintegration, the forces of darkness and tyranny have always attempted to get people to believe they are animal and unworthy of redemption.

There is no reason that both evolution and creationism cannot be taught is public schools, since there is not proof either of which side is correct.

Secular and educated religious society has determined that you are a loon.

As disturbing as it may be, normal religious education knows full well you mistakenly use the word "secular" as a synonym for "testicular."

Actually, that sounds like the talk of someone that belongs to the science-cult who is unsure of him/herself.

We gather you want - or more likely think we already have - an xstain theocracy, and thus the word "secular" would set off all kinds of ravings.

This isn't a theocracy. Gallup polling clearly shows that most people are not that wrapped up in obsessive, virulent homophobia anymore.

There is a substantial majority of idiots who can't cope with science or fact or testability, what a "theory" is, however. That explains why Crazy Eyes Church Lady Michele and Marcus the Effeminate Heterosexual are not wider laughing stocks than they are.

BTW, is the earth more than 10,000 years old? Praiz!

Should we also be teaching about all the Who's down in Whoville as well? Maybe a science class on just were green eggs come from? How a biology lesson on just what Thing1 & Thing2 are?

If you want to teach religion (i.e. creationism), that's what churches are for.

Actually a 1987 Supreme Court ruling also prevents creationism from being taught in public schools, since it's a violation of the separation of church and state.
