"According to published reports, Romero was cited in 2002 and 2006 for speeding in a tractor-trailer and ticketed for driving without his lights on 2005 and driving with a suspended license in 1997."
So he was charged with a misdemeanor after killing three kids. Careful, he could be driving the truck behind you soon.

I am very sorry for you Lori & Chris for losting 3 out 6 of your kids. I bet Jake is just like his older brother Kyle. 1 brother is on heaven & 1 brother on earth. I bet Ashley & Ellie are just their older sisters. 2 sisters in heaven & 2 sisters on earth. Lori & Chris make sure they are in a rear facing car seat tell they are 3 or 5.

The kids only have to be rear-facing until about a year old or shortly thereafter. The age suggestion is based on the strength of neck muscles in little babies; and since cars are traveling forward, it is safer for infants.
There is no need for a 3 to 5 yr. old to be rear-facing, and actually, this would compromise the leg room that they need at that age.
These parents, I'm sure, know what to do.

Actually the spine doesnt even START to fuse until 3 yrs and doesn't finish until approx. 6, so it is best to keep kids rearfacing as long as possible! When the spine is not fused it allows the force of the crash to literally pull the spinal cord away from the brain. So the longer a child can rear-face, the better. When rear-facing the restraint takes the brunt of the accident's force. When forward-facing, the child's neck and spine takes that same force.
As for the legs, there are no documented cases of broken legs while rear-facing and even if there was a higher chance of leg injuries while rear-facing, broken legs are not life threatening.
Unfortunantly not enough parents know about the risks involved with forward-facing and treat forward-facing as a exciting milestone they can't wait to meet, when in reality they are actually putting their precious baby in danger. I know I had never even heard of extended rear-facing until I had a co-worker mention it to me and none of my friends with children had heard of it either
