Hope this works out. Leaving $270k on the table got me wondering what's really up. If these guys low-balled their bid just to get their foot in the door, then once full-time operations start up, they may find making ends meet a problem. At that point, we all may suffer. Personally, wish the county would had rebid the whole packet. Good Luck!
I think it's a good thing.

Guardian can not even have good ambulances or supplies to begin with. Go inspect them. Go see for yourselves. Ask the medics, they can not even get an increase in pay. They have to work rediculous amounts of hours just to make ends meet. And if you looked at the history in Jim Wells. The medics are the same ones who keep jumping from company to company because they have a living to make. So it doesn't matter what company goes in. Roberson, South Texas EMS, Gold Star, etc. These employees jump from company to company. And yet Guardian has charged the most. Talk about a rip off. Not only do they charge the City and County. They also collect from Medicare, Medicaid and other insurances.

Yes, it does matter and no they cannot do the job with what they have and financially they won't survive! The county should go out for rebids.
You should have a credit check done on Guardian. You would be surprised as to how much they owe and don't pay. Why don't you call the Landlord of where their station is at. They (Guardian) don't even pay their lease on time....lol

They own the building..... by the way where is Air Med located? If you think about it, Guardian staff can finally rest..... after so many years of working on the 911 area, it really takes alot out of you. Ask any old medic if they would go back on a truck..... pretty sure they'll tell you "HELL NO" !! Med Air looks sharp for now, but give them 2 yrs. in the field then take a second look. After 3 years, majority of ambulance s look like ice cream trucks.

If you think JWC government ISN'T a Mexican monopoly, you really need to wipe that grease out of your eyes and get your diabetes and cholesterol checked. Either you can't see it or medical issues prevent you from comprehending it. You should be thankful for the "crackers" as you call us. Just think, without us you wouldn't have a job (if you even do) or collect your welfare benefits derived from our tax dollars. It was you or your ancestors CHOICE to leave your homeland and come to mine and now you're complaining. The bridge is still there, you can easily walk back across it. Stupid wetbacks, you pay for their school books and what good does it do?
Check your history books. Some of their ancestors didn't leave their homeland to come here. South of the. Nueces River was originally in Mexico. As a matter of fact, most of "Tejas" was part of Mexico.....

I would bet the Mexicans complaining and playing the race card today didn't have an ancestor living in what is now Texas. They are just the spawn of illegal wetbacks who swam the river. Now can we get back to the topic of ambulance service? That should also be of importance to "Mighty Mouth Mexican", too. Even though he doesn't pay for using it (he's using his Medicaid which is one my tax dime), he should care that he and his family reach medical care in time to save them from complications of their diabetes and cardiac issues brought on by their poor diet choices. I wish they would learn that they can buy healthy food with their SNAP. There's nothing that says "only good for tortillas, beans, rice and eggs".

Guardian does not own the building. They lease it and can not even pay the rent on time. Now the city is trying to give them an old station so they can use. And they still charge the city a bunch of mula. The building being used is a mess, just stop by and see for yourself.
Their supervisor is trying to get a job with the city and the city does not even know that he covers up for what they (Guardian) does wrong. LOOK INTO THAT ONE TOO.
I overheard they fired their Assistant Manager who was trying to fix things there. But the main guy would not let him. LOOK INTO THAT TOO.

Guardian owns the building theyre stationed in, in alice. the county owns the annex that they were stationed in orange grove. thats were the county placed air med, but guess what they are not even there majority of the time. they are off doing transfers or taking patients to corpus, leaving the county of jim wells uncovered should a 911 call drop.

Hello Slick, if you left $200k on the table, you've be busy doing side work as well! Money ain't growing on trees, and Medicade/Medicare ain't what it use to be. Cut them some slack. After all, the County knew what they were getting by accepting a low-ball bid.

Get your facts straight. Guardian does not own the building in Alice. They are leasing it. Whomever you got your intel from is not being honest. BTW, I can tell by how you defend them, that you are probably an employee of Guardian. As for the annex building in Orange Grove, you are correct. Guardian too not only left the county without an ambulance. It still leaves the city of Alice too. They (Guardian) too have to cover their costs plus the decision of leaving the city uncovered is not the employee's choice. It comes from management who BTW do not comply with the agreed contract which still has not been signed. They (City of Alice) should just let Acadian EMS come in and take over the contract.

Why do you talk about Guardian they don't service us here. We have Air Med I met them they are good people and have higher tech equipment then Guardian. Be glad we finally have an ambulance here. And it was not thanks to our dear mayor. The COUNTY did it...

The county negotiates the contract because it is the responsibility of the county, not the city, dumbass! We've had an ambulance stationed in OG for a few years now. That's not some new concept - crawl back under your rock. It's obvious you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

It is not necessarily racism. It is more of just an observation. When gringos conduct business in a certain manner they say it is out of loyalty. When Hispanics do business the same way they say it its fraud and corruption or we are just too dumb to provide better services at a lower price.
Okay, so you proved that you're an idiot AND racist. You say " they" but you're too stupid to even know who " they" are. It's people like you that give Hispanics a bad name with your bull $hit. Stop blaming" the man" for your problems, get an education, and start your life without blaming everyone else for your problems.

as a matter of fact the owner of AIR MED has ties to Alice. His mom is from alice. His aunts uncles and HE was from alice. The workers are mostly from alice area or have been here for years. The fact is that Guardian has had the worst equipment and was time for them to get out of the way. Next is the Alice contract and i suggest that everyone stand behind a company that PAYS its workers top dollar, EQUIPS its ambulances accordingly not just when they are forced to. Theres no trick or anything fishy going on. the truth is that by bidding low, they allow the company to prove itself and then by the next contract they may bid a bit higher. its kind of like a "TRIAL PERIOD" if the commission dont like them then at least it didnt cost crazy amounts and tax payers dont lose, but this was an opportunity to see what AIRMED can do.

go talk to EXPERT TIRE, O'REILEYS, and a LAND SCAPING COMPANY dont know the name but GUARDIAN SCREWED them over and THEY DONT OWN THE BUILDING. it belongs to the city. thats why every new ambulance company is stationed there. QUIT LYING TO YOURSELVES AND THE COMMUNITY!! GUARDIAN DID NOTHING FOR THE COMMUNITY, IT WAS THE WORKERS THERE THAT DID SO MUCH. there HAS TO BE A CHANGE...dont be so angry at AIRMED the owner too was tired of seeing all this abuse to workers and decided to come use HIS resources (HIS OWN EMS COMPANY) and change things up for the community and EMS workers. GUARDIAN EMS WORKERS are the backbone of the EMS community its sad that GUARDIAN NEVER GAVE A SHIT. thats not how you run a company. so for those of you that are loving on GUARDIAN THE COMPANY, are stupid cause you know they dont give a shit. GUARDIAN THE WORKERS IN ALICE are good people, just stuck having to work miracles with what little they are given.
