The left sees a martyr for the Dream Act, so don't expect personal responsibility for his, or his parents actions to come into play here.

His death was tragic, but to blame his legal status and alleged lack of college opportunities is just plain stupid. He could have applied for a student visa, or (gasp) applied for citizenship. Difficult? Sure. Impossible? No. Enough of a reason to commit suicide? Not even close.

. You are plainly wrong. Undocumented immigrants can't apply for any kind of visa, not citizenship either. There is not legal avenue to get legal status for them. These poor children are trapped in a not exit way. The reason they beg for the Dream Act is because only a reform will help them to go to college and get a job afterward.

Ok, you must not know any immigrants.
And if there is no way for illegal immigrants to go to college, why do some states offer in-state tuition rates to illegal immigrants?

. I said, that they don't have a chance to get legal status is they have been undocumented in the country, and that they don't have a chance to go to college and work afterward. I never said they can't go to college.

How awful. If only the family had been caring enough to obey immigration laws so the child wouldn't have faced such a complicated future. What kind of ignorant moron would sneak into another Country and expect to be rewarded for ignoring that Country's laws? In Mexico, they shoot illegals who try to sneak across their southern border.

Ok, but the article said he killed himself because he would never be able to go to college. I voiced my opinion and you countered that with yours. Let's just agree that the article is wrong and we are both right.

How about putting the blame where it belongs, on the parents. They're the ones who decided (note the word, decided) to sneak into the US in violation of our immigration laws and then have children. How about the parents taking a little personal responsibility for placing their offspring in this odious situation.

. I am not playing the blaming game. I am only telling a fact, related another poster comment. They have no way to legalize.

There are very good colleges in Mexico and they are begging for students. Many Americans attend college in Mexico.
Cop our is any. The should make the parent very sad because it was their bad choice that put this poor kid in this situation. We do not owe children of illegal aliens a education or anything. His parents should be held on charges of child abuse.

I grandson's wife in the country illegally got two degees in college before they were even marriege and now going back to school.
I can understand the fear of being a child and in the country illegally but his death is not failure of the dream act to pass but his parents greed.

What a B.S. Story.

From the Article:(CNN)-- Joaquin Luna was only 18. The senior at Juarez Lincoln High School in Mission, Texas, dreamed of going to college. But since he was in the country illegally, that was nearly impossible.

Texas. Pfft.

The Texas Dream Act was passed in 2001 by Governor Perry. So, he could have gone to college in Texas.

Rick Perry Stands By Texas DREAM Act
The potential 2012 candidate signed legislation in 2001 allowing some illegal immigrants to pay in-state college tuition.

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2011/07/2...

Although it is sad that this 18 year old killed himself, there has to be another reason why he did that. Or another reason why his illegal relatives are playing the guilt trip on Americans who resent the invasion of illegals.

Maybe his parents never paid the required taxes to qualify for the Dream Act in Texas. If so, his parents should be held fully responsible for this oversight, not our current immigration law.

XXX Attention Illegals. Think ahead.. Do not put your children in peril. Do not bring them here illegally. The pain they suffer will be your fault and yours only. Not American tax payers.

Why didn't they apply to come here the legal way? Too much trouble? Well now they have to live with the fact that by bringing their son, Joaquin, here illegally killed him..And of course they are going to blame it on America...It's our fault, not theirs..yeah, right. poor kid (sigh)..."stupid parents"
