“It's the same as if a whole street of residents would come to me and ask me not to salt the street after a storm because it kills their grass I would not do it because (not salting the street) is not safe.”

Ryan D. Wilson Staff Writer Roeland Drive will have a sidewalk despite house owner protests, but in light of those protests, Roeland Park City Council agreed to put in a smaller sidewalk to lessen the impact. via The Johnson County Sun

Putting sidewalks on Roeland Drive is the the idea of the local yuppie city council. WE DON'T NEED SIDEWALKS. They alreay put sidewalks on Nall and the residents didn't want that either but they are there. Why can't people walk on Nall if they want to walk on a sidewalk? There is not that much traffic on Roeland Drive to warrant spending money on sidewalks for Roeland Drive. They are going to RUIN the neighborhood. Trees will die, people's yards will barely exist anymore. Who is going to want to buy a home on Roeland Drive when their entire front yard is a sidewalk with HUGE DEAD trees? RIDICULOUS!

If you want to live in the country, move there. Sidewalks are normal in developed areas.

Do you not ever walk? Roeland Park is pretty walkable, despite the fact when the commercial node was rebuilt it didn't tap the potential for a more pedestrian-friendly, town-center type design.
