State inspectors check gas pump accuracy

There are 1 comment on the WCNC-TV Charlotte story from Apr 27, 2008, titled State inspectors check gas pump accuracy. In it, WCNC-TV Charlotte reports that:

“Maybe a small meter jump when you first start up and that's because of a leaky nozzle”

As the price of gas goes up, so does the number of complaints from people who suspect they're being scammed at the pump. via WCNC-TV Charlotte

Just this past weekend, I took a 1 gallon gas container which clearly had the 1 gallon level marked.. After putting in what the pump said was 1 gallon, the gas was 1 inch unter the indicated level for a gallon. I ended up putting in .17 additional gallons to hit the mark.. The manager had no comment but "they are inspected monthly"
The pump showed it was last inspected in Feb, 08.
The owners must know they are ripping people off because they know how many gallons they buy and sell, and if they don't add up, they know.
