Mint Hill fire displaces family of 12

An extensive fire at a two-story home on Gold Wagon Lane this morning displaced a man and a woman and their 10 children, authorities said.

No family members were injured and all were out of the home when firefighters arrived, according to Jay Alexander, public information officer for the Idlewild Volunteer Fire Department.

The Idlewild Volunteer Fire Department, Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Matthews Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 8:40 a.m. call.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it apparently started by accident, Alexander said. Read more

This is what happens when there are too many people under one roof. There are laws in place to help ensure that these types of things don't happen. Sure, what happened is bad, but when you have parents that are not tending to their children this is the end result.
