Twin Ports family to be picked for 'Extreme Home'

A Duluth-area family is in for a big surprise come Aug. 3. That's when Ty Pennington and the rest of the crew from ABC's popular "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" arrive in the Twin Ports to reveal the latest recipients of a new home.

Ohhhh..... you mean that is why they all run out of the house at the same time.... because they are already standing by the door..... I always wondered when Ty and the team showed up at 6:30am why the whole family was up showered and ready!(note sarcasm here):)

A family member of mine worked on the house in Minnetonka. Ty and the rest of the crew are there maybe 2 hours otherwise... Ty is out drinkin'! ha!

The families know they are candidates, and are told it's between them and a couple other families. They are told to be prepared in case it's them. So no, they don't know for sure if they are chosen until Ty is at their door. This I know for a fact. I know one of the families.

First I want to clarify that I know one of the Minnesota families that already received a home makeover, which is how I know.

Of course the family is allowed to use the internet. No names are mentioned in who is receiving the makeover, just the area they live in. All I know is they are told it's between them and another family in the area, and to be prepared in case it's them.(hence the element of surprise when Ty knocks on the door, and why they are all up and ready) They are told straight out that they may not be chosen.

The families do not know who is picked until ABC shows up at the doorstep. My daughter works for ABC in Duluth and they are all over this story. Two families were the finalist and the families had a timeframe of when they would be notified. That's all they know.
