Slayer you have no clue. Keep your uninformed thoughts to your own petty mind. You have no clue as to what his home life was like for any of his life.
This is a sad event. Why wasn't this kid ID'd as f-d up as he is? He should have never had this opportunity to do the damage that he did.

Its a shame that after a trial and conviction they will not be able to march him out to the town square, line a bunch of locals with firearms, tie him to a tree and let the target practice begin!

Prosecutors charged Swanson with four offenses in an October 2009 incident — auto theft, giving a peace officer a false name, underage drinking and driving, and collision with an unattended vehicle. He pleaded guilty to auto theft, a felony, in July, and the other charges were dismissed, according to court records.
St. Louis Park police had been called to the Swanson home 10 times since 2005 — half of them this year, according to police records.

The other calls to the Swanson home included reports of an assault, a theft, a weapons violation and threats, the records show. Jamie Zwilling, a city spokesman, said he couldn't provide more information about the reports because they involve a juvenile.

And now this punk has senselessly shot and killed two people, one a mother of 11. Let’s hear it for Minnesota’s lenient juvenile justice system.

Once again a punk with a record...When are the liberal bleeding heart judges going to see the warning signs? This piece of crapp should have been in jail already! But, they are always cut loose by an idiot judge so they can continue a life bringing hardship to others.

"I couldn't see him doing that," he said. "He grew up in a nice neighborhood, with nice neighbors and a nice family. He's not coming from a broken home or anything like that."
- neighbor William Parkhill

Now that's the funniest and dumbest comments I've ever heard from someone, cops have been called to the house 10 times!!! How in the world is that not f up right there?!! Either this neighbor is an idiot or he's living in Mr. Roger's neighbor all these years thinking the cops showing up at the neighborhood was Santa and the red sirens was Rudolph with his shining red nose.

wow, how tragic a story this is. A family of 11 without their mother/wife is a true tragedy. May God be with all during this most difficult of times.

Hard to believe this scum is smiling. He`s a future expense to taxpayers, and if he ever gets out, he`ll be on the public dole, so shoot the kid in the head now, and save us taxpayers a bundle.

I don't see this kid as a punk, just a very disturbed individual. "This piece of crap" as you referred to him as, was just released from Hennepin County Home School, which is a treatment center. That suggests something different than simply a correctional facility. Not knowing the complete story, we have no idea what was going on with this kid or what this family was dealing with in attempting to help their son to normalcy.

Michael Swanson will most likley spend the rest of his life in prison. Rightfully so. But, in this particular case, it is not as easy as chalking it up to being a punk, or poor parenting skills, or a judge cutting him loose. I suspect a mental disorder. This is not to excuse the behavior, only to point out, all brains are not created equal. For those reasons, my heart goes out not only to the innocent victims and their families but the parents and family of Michael Swanson.

mental illness is a dangerous disease. It is a disease that most people know little or nothing about....and judging by the man's smile I would say he has many issues. It in no way discards his actions but does explain that he obviosuly is not in his right mind. My son died from mental illness in 2007 so I understand a little about how, why and what to do. It is a long road back, if ever, to some kind of a normal life, whatever you would classify that to be. This man's family will need a lot of love and support to help them understand how their son/brother could commit such a horrific crime.

I couldn't have said it any better. It makes no sense to draw unfounded conclusions or pass judgement on this man's family or upbringing. I am very sorry for the victims, their families and for the family of Michael Swanson. A horrible and sad thing. Come on, readers, by posting your racist and inappropriate comments, you are perpetrating a cycle of reactionary and hateful responses. What good can come of that?

They should not have camera's around this kid when he's transferred to jail or court. He's apparently loving the attention like he's infamous. Hope he loves all the attention he get's while sharing a cell with bubba. Takes the life of two people intentionally and acts like he doesn't have a care in the world. Also, for all the racists that always come out on Topix, yes, he's white, & yes they do commit crimes that we read about.

You'll have to excuse me if I can't muster up enough sympathy for the murderer's family. Most of my sympathy is for the family's of the two victims who were needlessly gunned down by this waste of a human being. Mental illness or not, the world would have been a better place had he never been in it. My hope is that a little jailhouse justice wipes that smarta$$ smile right off his face.

Absolutely senseless. This kid just ripped a hole in the lives of alot of people, and as far as I can see, for nothing. I envision him spending every minute of every day behind bars for the rest of his life. I wonder how a young person can fall so far, so fast. Is he an undiagnosed schizophrenic? Bipolar? Or what? It really isn't going to matter one way or the other, I just wonder.

don't bother responding to someone who even posts such garbage. All he/she is looking for is a fight//and well frankly, just like the old album title by Joe Walsh, "you can't argue with a sick mind".
