Anyone can use poor judgement and get a DUI, but most would hopefully learn from their mistake. A second one in a little over a year? Methinks she has a problem.

I am personally sick and tired of reading a story about innocent people being killed by a drunk driver. And then when you hear the drunk is a repeat offender, it really gets me angry. The woman is a drunk, period! It's time the courts quit namby pambying these drunks. Give them jail time for a second offense, a strict probation period and loss of drivers license and vehicle plates during the probation. She is a drunk just as a downtown bum who buys Mad Dog wine is a drunk. At least they aren't getting in a car driving and killing someone!
Loss of drivers license will not keep them from driving. Time and time again they are picked up without a license. Take the vehicle. Once you have your vehicle forfeited and face that loss, somethings got to give. That makes more sense than most of the other vehicle forfeitures going on today. Drunks are using their vehicle as a weapon just as surely as someone shooting out of a car or dealing drugs.

And this makes Beth McDonough a felon. Along with convicted thief Tom Lyden, KMSP is a first-class outfit. Stay classy channel 9!

She's never, to my knowledge, been charged with a felony.

I dont see how this is news or a big deal. i bet just about 80% of us adults know someone who has a dui. i dont see how it affects her work. If bill down at the hardware store gets a dui, you wouldnt stop buying screws from him. People will argue that she is a public figure and she is a role model for young people in our community. There is 2 things wrong with that; First you need to teach your own kids right and wrong and they will be smart enough to realize what is an acceptable role model. The second point is no one would know about this unless this newspaper had some idiot reporter, who isnt smart enough to write about something usefull for us to read. This is exactely whats wrong with this country. We always have to point out the mistakes and the negative actions of others

We need to get TOUGH on crime.

She should be tied behind a goat and flogged through the streets.

She honestly looks like she's a little rough around the edges. That she has a drinking problem. So hopefully this public scruitiny she'll get the help she needs. Anyone with more then one DUI has a problem. You'd think the embarrassment of one would make you a little smarter about drinking and driving. Call a cab. Call a friend. What is so hard with that?

I think that's what Beth McDonough was up to all day Saturday before her DUI arrest.

She's known for her callous, innuendo-based reporting, so everyone shedding tears for her: don't waste your time.

Beth McDonough obviously doesn't like the person she sees in the mirror. Nor should she.

Not really. Thanks to our conservative Republican politicians in this state, social services funding is constantly being slashed. This poor woman wasn't given the proper treatment and alcohol education she needs because of that. I don't blame her for this incident.
I understand. Personal responsibility is wrong thinking. We should all want to be wards of the state, like you, and then we can blame others for our conditions and problems. Who said life should be filled with character and future building opportunities. Let's put the burden on others and live like zombie socialists...the Obama way!

One in seven Minnesotans now has at least one DWI. Perhpas while outlawing cigarettes we should outlaw alcohol again and add dancing, dining out, music venues, bowling, sports games and anything else that might encourage fun as they may encourage driving or worse yet, fun, in our lives.

This wouldn't be a story if she hadn't been caught twice. It can happen to anyone once, but you're stupid if it happens twice. She needs help, and might need a job. Put her over there in the display case next to Jeff Dubay.
It can't happen to me once, I don't drive drunk. I think you are stupid if it happens the first time. Either don't get drunk or make arrangements for a ride. Why is it worth the risk of killing yourself or someone else, or getting a DUI?

I don't recall anyone saying anything about banning fun, cigarettes, or alcohol. The article is about drunk driving, which is illegal and dangerous. Did I miss something or are you being serious?

Pie hole, John! Shut it. Who orchestrated the partial(?) nationalization of the largest banks in the US at taxpayer expense? It was the thieves of GWB and Co.- Republicans, not Obama and Co.- Democrats. If you want to talk about 'isms', look at what the government has been doing for big business for the past 8 years. That is fascism at its finest. Keep your right wing claptrap to yourself.

It's in the news because she's a public figure. Did you complain about the last time she got one when CJ at the Strib was all over it?
I din't say she didn't have a problem. She's just a lackey of Channel 9. They're all talking heads there. Hardly newsworthy.

I don't read CJ.
