Police: Drunken man looking for ride gets hit on highway

A Garden City man who wanted a ride to Waseca ended up in detox, instead, after stepping in front of a car on U.S. 169 early Sunday.

nothing else...but Dispatchers SHOULD called the cab & or taxi company.

Totally agree! It's the responsibility of the law to keep drunk crazy's off the highway whether in a car or on foot!

Do you know where Garden City is? Exactly what bus is running early Sunday in Garden City. I don't think MTC extends service to the greater Mankato area.

Good call. Why didn't the police get involved and avert this problem to begin with? Let me guess, they were too busy profiling drivers to make sure no one too dark or who appeared gay drove through town, leaving no time to do legitimate police work.

I believe the authorities were headed that way to check into the situation after they received the call.
