When are we going to wake up and get rid of this council? They are actually going to vote to make it illegal to host a party that provides alcohol to peopl eunder 21??? HELLO council! In case no one told you, it is ALREADY illegal to provide liquor to ANYONE under age 21! Now you want to raise fess for city street maintenance? Maybe you could repeal that crazy program you just passed this summer where you are giving as much as fifteen thousand dollars to government employees if they buy a house in St. Paul, instead of putting higher costs on the entire city. Government employees don't need down payment assistance. WHy would you give all that money away when the city has a serious budget problem? If we can't afford to clean our streets I would say we have no business giving money away to people who don't need it. This is insane.

We are receiving less service and paying more for it. Does anyone buy Bruce's explanation as to why this is happening? I don't what I really think is happening here is the recession and the decreased tax revenue that came with it has positioned local, state, and federal government on the verge of collapse.

With tax revenue down (read an article on CNN that it's down 25%) the government doesn't know where it will get funding for programs but cutting those programs is not being considered.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years and the new economy that has been created because of this recession.

Where did the 7 million dollar surplus go from past years of Low snowfall amounts? The last city municipal audit in 2006 had the City sitting fat on funds for Snow Plowing and Salting! What did Mayor Chris Coleman do with these funds? Why are the People in the City of St Paul acting so powerless? Get up off your A$$s and Vote these people out of Office! Protest in front of City Hall, and in front of the Pioneer Press for NOT asking where these FUNDS are! The Media in this State is a 100% Joke! The Media is suppose to keep an eye on Government, Not Sleep with them!

"It's really extortion," Jimmy Sande, a business owner and resident of the Summit-University neighborhood, said after addressing council members. He said that when he received the notice of the 2009 assessments, "as I was reading it, I swear to God, I saw three (public works) guys working with one shovel."
*Why would they even have a hearing knowing they where going to pas it?

I wonder who came up with putting the light colored dirt, which turned to mud after the rain this week) that was put in our alley to fill-in potholes (I presume) What a Joke this is. There was a crew of 4 workers with a shovel and three rakes pushing this gravel around and it seems to have done nothing but make a mess. Seems like we pay over $50 per unit in the condo for alley plowing and maintenance and this if the first of seen after living here 12 years. This mess in the alley will be moved about after the first hard rain and what's left will be moved out by cars driving through.

Who is responsible for this idiotic maneuver. What can be done to clean this mess up.

Oh boy, what a shock, they are going to raise the little hidden fee's and taxes again, for what, they have never been able to even plow the snow around our place, I finally bought a tractor so I can do it myself, they left such big piles of snow all over you could hardly drive down the street, every time we get snow, I take my tractor out and clean up their mess, takes me about 20 minutes and it's clean curb to curb, they can not seam to go curb to curb, and I even do the alley in that time..
I plan to vote for Eva, time for some change..

I agree I think Eva is probably st.Paul's best bet. She actually has a successful track record with turning around failing business. I think people might be surprised on election day.EVA EVA EVA EVA!!!!!

She's got my vote. People of St. Paul need to wake up and vote out the nimrods who consistantly raise our taxes, yet nothing seems to ever change here. Vote Coleman and the rest of the democratic bums out of office.
