Saturday Protests, Almost All 50 States to See Pro-Gun Demonstration on State Capitols
by Ezra Van Auken
One of the first nationwide pro-gun demonstrations is nearing, specifically this Saturday. The event, which is being sourced and organized on Facebook, has been deemed “Guns Across America” and already has over 11,000 protestors lined up for Saturday with another near 100,000 awaiting response.
“Guns Across America” planners have protestors gathering at “most” state capitols starting at 12pm central time. Incredibly, nearly every single state has been assigned coordinators and its own event page.“Gun Control = More Crime”, an advocacy group, is officially in charge of the nationwide event, and along with Gun Control = More Crime is Eric Reed, manager of the event.
Part of the mission statement reads,“Guns Across America Events are committed to supporting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms as outlined in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Our goal is to inform and educate the public about their Constitutional Rights. Our objective is to ensure that law abiding citizens retain those rights through peaceful and legal means.”
The other part notes,“We do not recommend anybody bring any long guns, rifles, shotguns, etc. to the “Guns Across America” events. If legal in your state, WE ARE NOT FORBIDDING IT, but we feel that it’s unnecessary, and playing into the anti gun propaganda. We further advise all attending: you, and only you, are responsible for knowing any and all state and/or federal laws pertaining to the carriage of a firearm.”
Protests have ensued since politicians have flaunted the idea of gun laws, however this will be the first nationwide organized event. Debates have sparked as well, as CATO Institute’s Craig Whitney explains,“That right, was connected to the duty to serve in militia. To come to the common defense in other words, not just self-defense. You didn’t have to be a militia member to have a gun, but if you had a gun, you had to be ready to serve in the militia.”
Whitney also points out that authorities would indeed know who equipped themselves with firearms, although it was incase militia was needed, requiring the specific weapons to use. Since that time, the U.S. has shifted entirely in the way we think and perceive weapons, which could be very unfortunate.

500 out of 5 million in Minnesota.
There were more people at the pond hockey games at Lake Nokomis.
There will be three times more people at the Gay 90's tonight.
America doesn't want your right wing extremist nonsense. November should have taught you that.
