Whenever I am in Mpls, I would watch any of the TV news channels. However I no longer watch KMSP-TV Fox9 News. Since the exit of Heidi Collins, the newscasts now usually consist of all males. Having both anchors male, the sportscaster male, and the weatherperson male, gives the show an uncomfortable, unnatural, unbalanced homosexual flavor.

When the News show started. ALL the news anchors were male. It wasn't until about 1975/1976 that a woman was allowed to be a news anchor on live TV.
.
In fact when Barbara Walters became part of a news team. There was a furor over her being on TV reporting the news. Many viewers voiced their opinions that she should stay at home as a housewife. That the job of news anchor was supposed to be for men only.

Sangelia-

Your post decribes exactly how I remember the seemingly misogynistic early days of the TV news industry. So I don't understand why anyone would judge your post negatively for accurately recalling the facts. Perhaps some folks have never heard the saying: "Don't shoot the messenger".
Things have changed. As I pointed out in my previous post, it now seems odd when a news show does not have a healthy balance of both male and female anchors, sportscasters and weathercasters.

One thing that exacerbates the problem when you have an all male cast, is this recent trend in newscasts of having the anchors move from the desk to a couch, where they then sit around and chat.
When the commercial break ends, and Frank and Amelia have moved from the desk to a couch, it makes me smile, because I then think: "What a cute couple. I wonder if they were making out during the commercial break?"
But when the commercial break ends, and two guys are now sitting next to each other on a couch, it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It makes me wonder if I had accidentally changed the channel to a gay network.

“I am always right.”

I was a teen at the time the furor over even having a female news anchor was a big thing.
.
It was during the time when we women were still expected to get married pretty much right out of high school. Maybe with our husband's permission hold a job until we got pregnant. Then we would be let go from the job to become a full time stay at home mom.
.
Not like today, where women have the choice to go back to work right after giving birth.
