I see no reason why they shouldn't retire his number and I don't see why they would have to wait to do it. I have never understood why Packer fans wail and gnash their teeth over Favre leaving. He isn't the first person in any profession to reconsider retirement and not the first person to change employers (didn't Lombardi do both of those?). I suppose it could have been handled a little better by both sides but how many of us have never left an employer without ruffling some feathers? It shouldn't erase what he did on the field and in the community for 16 years. Those who are still angry with him just need to grow up.

As a non-Packer fan, you can never understand the years of games Favre and his agent played with Green Bay management, which peaked during the summer of 2009 when he un-retired and demanded his job back. The whizzing match that ensued was initiated by Favre, kept alive by Favre and his agent and driven by his desire to get to Minnesota and get even with Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy.

Again, those who are true fans of the Green Bay Packers understand. Those who aren't - including the love Favre no matter what crowd - are on the outside looking in.

I agree they should retire his number, but should wait for another news conference where he cries about it first, than in about 10 years or so we can get it done... no rush on this, we have been duped by his retirement games before

I say Brett come out of retirement for one more yeae. This would really tick off all of the Packer fans and WI population. And in a year or two, the Vikings will retire #4. I enjoy watching you play the game you love.

They might retire his jersey in Green Bay but Brett's dream was fulfilled when he became a Viking.

They have the only masters program in underachievement and a PhD in dead-end careers. The lone undergraduate program is in restaurant employment where you can specialize in either dishwashing or the fast food from the microwave

Geez, the Viking/Favre worshippers are out in force.

If they retired his number in the next few seasons the boos would easily drown out the cheers. The guy was a complete d-bag about his unretirement. He constantly leaked info to ESPN after he was specifically asked not too, then cried that the Packers didn't want him.

It's a business after all, and he made his decisions. And I've made mine that he's a PoS and should have to wait a long time for his jersey to be retired.

Go ahead and retire a QB that lost a NFC Championship game for you, he lost plenty of those for us. Instead we'll stick with our Super Bowl MVP QB for next season and not give a cr_p what Bert is doing with his life. He deserves to be acknowledged for what he did for the Pack but I don't see any reason in giving him more attention right now.
