Effective 2015 all new Minnesota houses over 4,500 square feet are required to have a sprinkler system. Cost of the sprinklers will vary but will be in the thousands of dollars. Once installed the sprinklers may cause more damage than they prevent when they fail and flood a house causing extensive damage. Current fire code requires interconnected, AC powered, battery backup smoke detectors in all new houses which have prevented deaths in the houses with those smoke alarms.
