Former MN Taxpayer

Have you ever heard that term before? It stands for "Other people's money."

In the private sector, if I made a decision that cost my company $1,000, I had damn well be prepared to take some action that will save or gain that same amount of money - or I will take home a smaller paycheck next month.

In Big Government, that never happens. No one is accountable for anything. That is the problem with government.

As I was reading about the $1.1 million bill that Kwame Kilpatrick's (Democrat Mayor of Detroit and convicted of bribery and corruption) defense attorneys got paid by the tax payers, and then saw that Ray Nagin (Democrat Mayor of New Orleans and now convicted of bribery and corruption), I was thinking of the mentality of our government officials. His defense attorney team will also reap $1 million plus of tax dollars.

We have a national debt that will never be repaid.
We have created a consistent welfare state that spans multiple generations of families.
We have given 99 weeks worth of unemployment to many people who are just not wanting to work.

We have created a gigantic industry called government where no one is held accountable for their job or when they p*ss away $153 million dollars as they did with the MNsure web site.

If there was a way to stop and/or minimalize the waste we have allowed the industry known as Big Government to get away with, we could cure every ill in this country and feed all the starving children in the universe.

You are correct. Now, I shall vent.

The only hope I see, and it's slim at best, is to destroy the grip of the 2 party system. It's painfully obvious that it has failed miserably. Time after time, after time.

Effectively, the only "party" that exists is this 2 party system. Evidenced by the fact that except for a very few exceptions, only the elite can afford the tremendous cost of becoming an elected official. Be it municipal, state or federal.

The solution is simple. Stop voting for democrats, republicans, and especially, incumbents.

The implementation is not so simple. We have enough trouble getting people to vote in the first place. Much less getting them to stop voting with their bibles, or green peace memberships, or their wallets, or their degrees, or their entitlements, or their country club memberships.

Informing the uninformed voters involves bias by default. Teaching them to become informed would also involve bias.

I fear the only hope is the cultural evolution of the species. Evidence indicates that it works. Through a long arduous process, we have evolved from pretty much barbaric animals to not quite so barbaric animals who, among numerous other things, have eradicated diseases, extended our lifespans, and begun to conquer space.

The founders had the right idea. Humans have failed to live up to them.

Barrak Obama won the election because he promised everything to enough subgroups within the society to garner a majority of votes, you know those subgroups.

IF those same subgroups vote the same way WHOMEVER the libertards run for office will win, at least the presidential race. There are many intelligent states whos residents still believe in the work ethic will vote conservative.

IF a conservative leaning 3rd party is formed it would split the conservative vote and the libertards would certainly win.
