This is the first year that the nonprofit Gay Games, which are open to all adults regardless of sexual orientation, has utilized advertising atop taxicabs. The ads, seen above, were unveiled early last week.(Courtesy: Gay Games)

Roughly 25 Muslim drivers dispatched to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport are refusing to drive cabs adorned with advertising for the region’s upcoming Gay Games, citing religious reasons.

Two of the three companies operating at Ohio's largest airport were informed by the drivers — one-third of the airport’s total fleet — last week that they will no longer participate in the airport’s dedicated taxicab program. The companies, Ace and Yellow Taxi Cab, were told by the drivers that their decision was based on religious reasons, airport spokeswoman Jacqueline Mayo told FoxNews.com .

Ann Gynn, a spokeswoman for the Gay Games, said she believes the protest is an “isolated” case and not indicative of the beliefs held by most residents in Cleveland and Akron, where the Gay Games will be held on Aug. 9-16.

To paraphrase Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz...

Why? What would you do with 72 virgins if you had them?

Seems like being a Muslim is GOOD, they don't "hate" based on anything like color, religion, ethnic background, sexual preference, gender preference, etc etc etc..

Muslims seem like loving people. maybe I'll visit a local Mosque and attend a mass or whatever they call a holy commitment.

Thanks redeemer, you seem like a nice guy.

Faith has very little if anything to do with religion.

Wouldn't this be similar to the issue at minneapolis airport regarding somali cab drivers refusing to transport people carrying alcohol or people with dogs? I think the final word from the airport was that they could make that choice to discriminate against customers based on their religious beliefs but would also lose their cherished places in line if they refused to accept a legitimate fare?

Good for the airport. When you take a job, leave your religious beliefs at home. They don't belong in the work place.

This should also apply to the advertising on the cabs they work in.

Did you get that viewpoint from your father? Oh wait, your mother couldn't tell you who your father was. The only recollection of him that she remembers, is seeing a worn Somalli coin, worth about 50 cents, laying on the bedside table when she woke up.

Faith and religion are two completely different things. Faith has, as far as I know, never been the cause of wars. Never been responsible for the deaths of untold numbers throughout history. Religion, on the other hand, has a long and glorious history of death and devastation.

The Islamic views on homosexuality are formed from the writings of the Qur'an and Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah. It is not only a sin, but a crime under Islamic law.

This can't be.

Muslims are loving people who love the gays.

If that's true, then they are probably not placing adds on their cars for the gay games. But if they work for other people or companies, they should leave their religion at home when they go to work. Not try to force their employers to lose cab or advertising revenue because of their religious beliefs.
