Some want the 787 to be tested with a full load of passengers.

Slewer WILL be on the 787 when it crashes.

OK slewer, think about it this was way.

If a bike was designed for off road use and came off the assembly line with onroad tires would it be considered a viable bike?

Of course NOT, just like the 787 which is designed for LONG flights and it has yet to fly long haul flights for more than a couple of days before another EMERGENCY LANDING is required.

Like the offroad bike that has skinny tires the 787 is not yet a viable airplane. Heck there are MANY airplanes that have NO problems that can fly short trips.

I still wonder why they don't fly cargo in the 787 for a month or 2 that would prove the planes are ready for passengers. Many of these 787's have been sitting collecting dust and bugs (real bugs) while the "FIX" was contrived for the battery problem.

Why fly a lemon airplane?

A fire that took 2 hours ON THE GROUND is a minor problem?

A fire that required a grounding of the 787 is miner?

Sorry but YOU are all phocked up!!!

Sal Gentile: days ago Boeing's CEO has shot himself and the shareholders in the foot by his being so obstinate bull headed in his anti-union stance.

The union members are no doubt highly costly to Boeing___ but it is those same workers who over decades had built Boeing into the long term success it was.

Boeing became the Icon of the airline industry BECAUSE of their great in-house employees. Boeing had been highly profitable for decades WITH all these highly paid union workers. First the CEO cost the shareholders billions of dollars by pushing the workers into striking for several months, because he wanted to reduce the benefits that every prior CEO has been paying them. Then being upset about the strike (that he caused himself) he decided to use outsiders for much of the design and engineering work and outside parts suppliers for the Dreamliner. That was still not enough so he went a step further and spent billions more and opened a new non-union assembly plant for the Dreamliner.

His pigheadedness cost Boeing billion of dollars in cost over-runs and years of delays and cancelled orders for the Dreamliner. All of the CEO's relentless anti-union changes since he took over the helm at Boeing places the Long Term reputation and Viability of Boeing into a very precarious position. Without a reputation of building safe, reliable, quality aircraft Boeing has nothing.

It is only a matter of time before defects in the Dreamliner end disastrously.

RIP those who will die when the 787 crashes. Maybe then it will be grounded.

After Slew kept saying I was saying something about the 787, this last article caught my eye. It looks like it could pay to make sure you aren't booked on one if you must be somewhere on time. Hopefully, it isn't more problematic that that...
There are those claiming the 787 is "flying".

The problem with being airborn is that it can crash. When it's grounded it couldn't crash.

Read comments to this story, people understand the 787 is a combination of parts from every ountry in the world. I wonder if the Hyundai parts have a warrentee?

It's also understood the 787 IS NOT your typical Union Made Boeing QUALITY airplane.

Delivery delayed for unspecified reasons.

Anyone can figure that out when all these 787s are having to make emergency landings. Each landing can mean another fix for another problem.

Seems a power unit was feeding the AC.

Guess it wasn't supposed to do that.

The 787 reminds me of a software system I worked on. It had a reputation of failing all the time and very difficult to solve problems.
