Have you ever known any disabled people? The ones I have known who are truly disabled do not want to be treated differently than anyone else. Quite the opposite. They just want to be treated equally. They don't want to be pitied, or admired, or given "extra rights". In the case of one person I knew who was wheelchair bound, he was none too happy to ask for help even when he truly needed it. Far from the people who abuse the benefits for disabled people because they are supposedly depressed or "sad" or have "pain" that can't be accounted for medically.

We seem to be on the same side of this issue, but I must correct your assumption that disabled people need more rights to get along. People with disabilities do not have any special privileges afforded to them by word of law, nor do they require them. What we expect and what we are granted by law is equal access to public buildings and freedom from discriminatory employment practices.

You're a moron.... They NEED better parking spaces etc. to get their daily business taken care of... A handicapped bathroom stall can be a godsend, dummy !

Since I didn't say rights and meant more access, I accept your apology.

In some cases, all other things equal, or maybe even a little in favor of the able bodied, a disabled applicant for a job will win out over an able bodied one. Disabled run companies get preference on government contracts.

Since you didn't say access and responded "they need more" to someone's statement that disabled people "have more rights", there's no reason for me to apologize.

We don't need more access, we need equal access. That's the bones of the ADA.

Huh. I've never worked for a company that receives government contracts so I don't know how accurate your statement is. I can tell you, though, that I have never ever in all my years heard of a handicapped applicant being hired over a fully healthy employee and I've been both an able-bodied advocate for disabled workers and a person with a disability.

Actually, even if you try to twist my words, you need more, than you currently have, around the world... Too bad, you allow yourself so much latitude, you're a poor rep.

Slew, if you had any clue who I am or what I do for the cause then your assessment of me as a person might matter. You don't so it doesn't. Are you capable of having a discussion without the put-downs?

Hello, Bridge. Each nation will be held reponsible for its own enforcement as I understand it. The reason we should bother is twofold; it's a simple humanitarian gesture for one, and for another it would foster a better perception of Americans. I truly believe the Senate's rejection of the largely symbolic treaty is being received internationally as a middle finger to the rest of the world. How many senators voted no on this? Just a handful of extremely partisan politicians made the decision that this isn't the right thing to in a lame duck session. That's shameful to me that political posturing weighed so heavily into an ethical decision.
Again, only my humble opinions on a topic that is very personal to me.
It's nice hearing from you Zen.

Nope, not even with people arguing the exact same point. I apologize if I came off as more rights, in general, I believe you are 100% correct without a few special circumstances. Minority owned and women owned businesses also get preferential treatment for government contracts. It is what it is.

Sure, but it seems like you need to pretend more intellect than you have. to compensate... I'd remind you of the other times you've been wrong, but you're unwilling/able to learn from your mistakes...Funny, who first judged whom....

It seems to really disturb you that you have no excuse for your Bitter Victim, Sociopathic Defective Personality.

WE know that the despicable abusive nature you reveal all day every day, is a "Sexual Thing" for you, and that it is based on the fact that you are a Genetic Defective from an Unholy Coupling of a Brother and Sister.

When the Economic Collapse comes, you need to be placed into the gutter and allowed to perish. One of the Greatest Outcomes of the destruction that the Collectivists are bringing, is that Humanity will weed out trash like you, and repair the damage to humanity that sustaining you and yours has wrought.

WE are grateful that as a Hermaphrodite, you cannot contaminate the Gene Pool with your Defects.

Thank goodness for this minor blessing.

In other words, no, you are not capable of having a discussion on point without put-downs. Thank you for the confirmation.

Zen,

I know that you have the Communication Skills to get down in the Gutter with me and create posts that are appropriate to the Poster you are attempting to converse with.

Why do you give the Seattle Psycho a modicum of credibility by replying to her as if she is capable of responding in anything but her consistently abusive and often sexually disturbing ways?

Just slap this dog around, like her Uncle Daddy did!

Save your intelligent posts for those worthy of the effort you take to create them (Even if you are wrong 90% of the time).

Good morning, Consistent. Thank you for the compliment, backhanded as it was. Whatever life circumstances have compelled Slew to behave like a jackass in the internet is anyone's guess. His knee-jerk, rapid-fire, nonsensical one-liners are painting a pretty good portrait of a tortured soul. It's not in my nature to attack someone when he's down.
