That's the word that kept coming up after the Vikings picked Christian Ponder. If you read newspaper or online stories or listened to several radio and TV stations in the hours and days after Ponder was selected with the NFL draft's 12th overall pick, that's what you saw or heard.

When it comes to predicting the future of a QB, everyone should know that it is not an exact science. These draft gurus try to put a numerical value on the human condition and fail to hit the mark. Kiper, McShay, and Mayock need to consider that Musgrave has the ability to identify talent and develop talent. And thats who had Ponder high on his board, probably higher than the inaccurate Jake Locker or even Blaine Gabbert who I think is best served on the sidelines for a couple of years. Cam Newton could be decent if he is a student of the game, but lets let their play determine that not some superficial, ergonomic qualifier be the decider.

Wow. Lots of spelling and grammatical errors in that disaster of a post. I'm guessing the public schools in Ellsworth are terrible.

Eddie Munster, ha, that's pretty funny actually! He, along, with the majority of the so called "experts" agree that Pounder was drafted way too early. They coulda got him later while addressing more important needs at #12. But the Queens don't do that. That's why they never and never will win.

As much as I liked Gabbert and Dalton, I thought both were products of good systems so I would not have drafted either of them unless they really fell. Locker was the guy I thought the Vikings were going to grab. I guess Tennessee did too and pounced. I'm not unhappy with the Ponder pick. Ponder makes good decisions and is pretty accurate - two factors I think trump all others for a QB. But, like many of you I have serious concerns about the O-Line and thought we should have started there with Castanzo or maybe Pouncey. Akumanara or Fairley would have been pretty cool too.

I am one who favors the Ponder pick.... now.... at the time it surprised me, but I understood why it had to happen.

It was a reach >>>> not because he had no skills but where the "Experts" had him going. the Vikings didn't just pounce on him when they were on the clock. they looked to trade back. the phones were dead.

Again, I know it had to happen. He was their guy. Washington was now sitting at 16. if they didn't take him there, they were in better position to trade back a little further again (low 20s). They Probably thought we were taking a DE or DL.

Ponder would not have been there in Round 2.

We couldn't move back with no trade partners. it was a reach, but not because he lacked skills. only because he was projected to go late first round or early 2nd.

Oh, by the way: This isn't a "football site". It's the sports section of a news paper. AND, you forgot to comment on the "A. Rodgers 3 years ago" post. Not that there's much you COULD say, that's very factual, to dispute it...

I'm just really thankful that a Packers fan takes the time to come onto a Vikings blog. It shows you care.

Sorry if I don't repay the compliment. I just don't care about the Packers the way you do about the Vikings.

Enjoy your stay. Come back often. Or at least as often as your parole officer lets you.

Rodgers didn't win 4 SBs... Neither did YOU... As far as your man thing for AR, you probably used to wank to Brett Favre too...

Kiper always disappears after the draft so he doesn't have to explain himself.

He's an NFL wanna be but never gonna be. If he was such a good talent evaluator he would be working for some team right now.

I would not be surprized to find out Kiper is paid by several agents to highlight some of their players to get artifical buzz going on their clients to boost their draft place and, therefore, pricier contracts.
