Youth Vote Gap Suggests Republicans Risk Losing An 'Entire Generation' To Democrats

Source: huffingtonpost.com

<snip>
Instead, voters ages 18 to 29 -- who made up 19 percent of the electorate, a greater share than in 2008, and half of whom cast a ballot, for the third presidential election in a row -- went for Obama by 60 percent to 36 percent for Romney.

Now Republicans are faced with a grim premise as they look toward the future, with a much more racially diverse and socially liberal young voter base that supports Democrats by a large margin.

Hell, they might as well lose an entire generation - they've already lost women, blacks, gays, Latinos and pretty much every other minority.

I posted this in another thread:

"America has spoken, and it is not what you say it said. The 50% of voters who voted Obama spoke load and clear,“GIVE US FREE STUFF!”.

If you look at the groups that supported Obama, and then look at how Obama bribed those groups. Obama has bought them off with his promises of taxing the rich for more entitlements, free health care to the poor, giving illegals amnestie, free birth control to women, and student loan reductions/forgiveness.

Is it any wonder he had the single women, minority, and young voters?"

You Republicans lost in a landslide to the Democrats. You lost. Get over it. Instead you are full over goofy excuses and complaints about free stuff. Well America voted and rejected your message. Can you hear that loud and clear? America rejected the hated and bigotry of the Republican party. America rejected a presidential candidate that lies and changes his views daily. America rejected a party that seeks to discriminate against women. America rejected the Republicans that are trying to force their effed up morality on America.

You lost. What ever happened to graciously accepting that you lost fair and square and trying to improve your lot instead of posting mountains of lies about Obama?

It's a two way street. If by some remote chance a Republican ever does win the presidency, all the crap you pull will come back and bite you in the ass.

Our country is what suffers from your devisiveness. Get over your loss and try working with the majority to fix the problems of our country instead of trying to make them worse.

THAT is patriotic and the American way. Those of you that sit in the background tossing insults and trying to sabatage our country our country are unpatriotic and almost treasonous.

A landslide?

Out of 217 million eligible voters, and only 121 million actual ballots, Obama won by 3.4 million votes, or roughly the population of Los Angeles. That's 0.028 of the votes cast, not counting the 3rd party votes. Not exactly a mandate, and certainly not a landslide.

Both of these candidates only inspired 55% of Americans to actually support them. The other 95 million eligible voters are probably sick to death of politics and idiots like you and washed their hands of this nonsense years ago. Imagine if they had voted.

The real failure here was that 45% of Americans don't even bother to contribute any more. They think its futile, because nothing ever changes and the rapidly dumbed down electorate keeps sending the same empty suits to office. The right people don't even run any more.

The republican party leadership made an idiotic mistake by nominating the exact person Obama was trying to paint the republican party as. Not Darrell Issa, not Marco Rubio, not Bobby Jindal, not Mario Diaz-Balart, not Nikki Haley, not Kay Bailey Hutchison, not Olympia Snowe, not Susan Collins, not Condolezza Rice, not Judy Biggert or Cathy McMorris Rodgers or Jo Ann Emerson or Jan Brewer or Sue Myrick or Ileana Ros-Lehtinen or Kay Granger or Shelley Moore Capito or Mia Love or Marsha Blackburn or Susana Martinez but a pampered, rich old white man.

This was not an indictment of conservatism. It was a colossal blunder of nominee selection.
