Matt - The second paragraph: Mauer, 89, is the great-uncle of Twins catcher Joe Mauer. His son John Mauer Jr. coached baseball at HillMurray School. The Mauer Cup high school baseball tournament is named after John Mauer Sr. So I would say Yes to your question. Very nice article. My thoughts and prayers are with the Mauer Family.

He had the respect of his peers as well as his students. Thank you for a worthwhile article remembering him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace.
