Perhaps the poster who said that the Twins weren't looking to go anywhere this season but preparing for 2012 may have had it right. The Twins are hoping that Gibson will come up and join the rotation in 2012 and perhaps become the top major league starter that the team needs. Nishioka will have gained a season of experience in the MLB. In wouldn't be such a huge surprise if the Twins pass on Pavano and Thome this season and try to make due with what's available.

Pitching prospect???

How about getting real pitchers or are the Twins just trying to pull one off on the fans.

I don't care how the Twins do in 2011-I just want to see some changes in how this team is coached!!! Their "pitch to contact" philosophy clearly is not effective. You end up with safe pitches with no movement most of the time. Get more pitchers with some b@lls(Pavano) and let them throw!! Let this team use some speed on the bases. They were pathetic last season. Gardenhire needs to get some capable assistants and let them handle more aspects of games. They need to get some of these injury prone players in better condition. I'm sick of the cookie cutter mentality where a player can't show a little style or aggressiveness.

Oh yeah. Maybe the Twins will sign someone before Joe Mauer retires... but I doubt it.

all he has to do is kiss Gardys butt and he will have a spot on the team for years, with no expectation to perform

This team could really use the shot in the arm that Gibson could give them if he comes in and makes the team as one of the 5 starters next year.

Let's hope he's not another Adam Johnson. Man, I remember the hype and excitement about him. What a bust.

Baseball is a funny sport. 1st round or 20th, either could be a Cy Young winner.

My guess is the 2011 Twins will end up just like the 2010 Vikings.

Time to let Bert handle game decisions regarding pitchers. Pulling them after 90 pitches is crap. I'm sure the Mets appreciate saving Santana's arm for them. How'd that work out again? How many games did Gardy cost with terrible late-inning decisions last year? Good thing for him that no one who voted for AL MOY actually watched the Twinks last year. Get some power arms who can actually miss a bat once in a while and coach them up instead of drafting nothing but control guys with low strikeout to walk ratios.

Crossing my fingers and hoping the Twins can sign Thome, Pavanno and Punto. Hoping Gibson can make the rotation maybe later this summer if not right away. And my final wish or hope is that the Twins can sweep the Yankees the whole damn year.

Gibson certainly shows a good deal of potential, but rushing him to the majors for 2011 is probably a mistake. A full season at AAA is the best thing for him - hopefully the Twins staff handles the job either as is or with Pavano back. But the team needs to have prospects developing for the near future.
