As a disabled person living on Social Security it is frightening to think that someone will "wean me off of" the small income I do have each month. Between Social Security, the food shelf and help with medical from the county I barely am able to keep my apartment.

Maybe I should just die and stop being a burden to the hard working people who pay in to Social Security each month. That would solve the problem, wouldn't it?

the big question is WHO is funding her campaign? In my mind, there is no doubt that it's the "big-guns"-- the corporations and the very rich people. What will happen when the youngsters in all those low paying service, retail and crop-picking jobs will have absolutely no income to survive on when they are old (not to mention the millions that will have no job at all because the jobs are all shipped out by profiteering corporations to China, India, etc etc, etc!) As in the old "you load 16 tons and what do you get" song: most of those who do manage to work, will "owe their soul to the company store" and die while working. "Retirement," as they age and become infirm, will be totally unavailable to them.
Meanwhile the owners and CEO's of the companies/corporations laugh all the way to the bank making MILLIONS for a salary EACH YEAR... "I've got mine and to heck with you all...." Lovely.

Sandy is a clueless as Clark and any of her other opponents who would like for you to believe that SocSec is sustainable. Please read her entire statement on the subject. Socialism hasn't been a good longterm solution anywhere else it's been tried, why would we expect it to work here? I applaud her for her courage in taking this position. Come on people, look around you. We are running out of other people's money.

"Socialism"--if you will-- is alive and quite well right now in the USA. How many people are willing and able to send their kids to private school [public school is "socialism"], to give up their Medicare ["socialism"] and Social Security ["socialism" again] or thier disability ["socialism" again] and thereby to wind up on the streets, begging, and rotting and dying for lack of medical care? Is that what she and her ilk, want to do to others? Hey. you allm not everybody can make billions in the stock market, or like bankers, make the billions from people paying interest on their credit cards because they had to use them to pay for CORPORATE PROFITEERING medical care, which costs are so outrageous,(and still climbing!) even in today's economic recession/depression. For shame.
Further, benevolent socialism is alive and well in the Euro countries and Scandinavian Isles. the highest quality of life has been ascibed to a Scandinavian country, surely not the USA with its asinine greed. The downfall of our nation will be to ignore the needs of and destroy the majority of our people. Sick.

You applaud her? What is her answer for caring for the disabled? Should we live on the streets and beg? How about a solution for care of the elderly and infirm? Euthanasia perhaps?

How about the thousands of children who depend on Social Security? Maybe we should start only allowing people who can afford children to bear children? Maybe people who already have money should not be allowed to collect at all?

It's very easy for someone who eats well and lives well to suggest cuts and changes to save money. But these are people, not the bottom line numbers, who will be homeless and hungry.

Let us please not punish the disabled and elderly for something that is beyond our control!!!

Find a better solution to the problem and then ask for changes.

Most you need to read the ENTIRE plan before spewing forth with your vitriol. Something needs to be done.

If after reading the ENTIRE plan, you have a better idea, post it.

Well obviously the bleeding hearts will hate her because they think government MUST to everything for everyone. Why should I have to pay for someone who is working next to me for their SS because they are to lazy or inept to do it themselves? Too much hand holding, nanny state bullcrap.

Actually, I would like to see the GOVERNMENT weaned off of our Social Security funds. They have stolen Social Security blind. There should be plenty of money left in there, but the government keeps using it.

Social Security payments NEED to be capped to XX% of whatever the individual contributed. Problem is, there are FAR TOO MANY parasites bleeding the pool dry who never contributed a dime.

Yes, that is true. I've seen it. However, GOVERNMENT is one of the big huge parasites.

If Bachmann had a brain she would declare that she will NOT be taking Any of her govenment pension. Only then will she have an ounce of credibility. Of course hell will freeze over before that ever happens.
