St. Paul single-sort recycling begins April 7

There are 9 comments on the TwinCities story from Mar 27, 2014, titled St. Paul single-sort recycling begins April 7. In it, TwinCities reports that:

St. Paul residents confused about how to sort their recycling need not be -- no more sorting will be required as of April 7. Through its recycling contractor, Eureka Recycling, the city of St. Paul will be collecting recyclable materials, including a wider variety of plastics, in a single bin early next month, rather than two bins.

It's not the sorting that's confusing, for people willing to do it, it's the constant changes in what they will & won't take.
And I'm sure we'll all pay a higher "fee" for it now. And those of us who have been recycling will continue to, while those who haven't will continue to ignore it.
So where's the profit, other than for the city and Eureka?

Correct the city and Eureka WILL make profit.

I use the recycle bin as an overflow trash bin. Just put recycle stuff on to of the trash. They have been taking my trash for 8 years with no complaints.

Questions, you are confused as to what to recycle.

FYI, NYC has ended ALL recycling because it wasn't worth the effort.

My city went to the single sort. No higher fees have been charged. So it is very possible that StP will not have the fees raised either.
.
They also changed the form of the bin as well. Instead of the solid side laundry basket type. The city uses a wheeled covered bin now. Looks like a green wheeled garbage can now.
.
It was costing the city more for the drivers to have to remember what area what bags of the recycling had to go into. And even then, they had to have sorters at the facility.

I have tried to recycle many times over the years. They never have ever taken my stuff. I have no idea why. So I do not recycle. Oh Well.

I use the recycle bin as an overflow trash bin. BESIDES BEING ILLEGAL YOU ARE THE TYPE OF NEIGHBOR THAT IS COSTING YOUR CITY MORE OF THEIR TAX DOLLARS.
They know you're the one doing it, but nobody, and i mean nobody messes with the Trigger from Topix.

Just put recycle stuff on to of the trash.

I've heard about the Mpls recycling change, and it sounds like they did something smart.
St Paul usually plays follow the leader with Mpls. But we've heard nothing about new bins, just keep using the old little ones, with no lids, so on a windy day there's never much left in the bins by the time they get here. And they continuously change what they will and won't take...and leave a nasty note (which often blows away) in the bin if you put something wrong in there.
And I'll bet you a nickel they raise our rates, too.

Nothing I do is illegal. The Government is always telling us to "recycle MORE", so I'm following orders and recycling MORE as directed.

A relative drives the trash trucks and she said the trash is put in the same place as recycling, it all gets burned. Some metal is recovered after combustion but not much. Not all recycling is burned but in my area west of the cities they just burn it all.

Again NYC quit recycling because it made no sense. NYC is the MOST GREEN city in the USA.
