In the current times, you would be foolish not to run a background check on anyone you are serious about hiring.
We do not run background checks prior to the first interview. However, before they are invited back for a 2nd one, we typically know more about the candidate than they do about themselves.
I have to run background checks on all job candidates to maintain my bonding insurance. Not being able to ask the question on the application means more time wasted on candidates that cannot be hired.

Fix designed in Feb., approved in April, back in the air in may... Sure doesn't seem like the 6 months or NEVER you said.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Friday approved Boeing’s plans to fix the plane’s lithium-ion batteries after two erupted in smoke and fire on separate planes. Boeing has deployed teams of technicians around the world to quickly install the modified batteries on the 50 jets that have been delivered so far and return them to service as soon as possible.

Except, as I mentioned, how many felons, convicted or otherwise, are going to check the "yes" box on that application. Your only salvation is that most criminals are pretty slewpid.
