Obamacare agency rushed in contractor without bids, documents show:

Caught flat-footed by the challenges of building the financial-management and accounting parts of the U.S. government's new online marketplace for health insurance, officials rushed to hire a familiar contractor without seeking competing bids, according to government procurement documents reviewed by Reuters.

"The prospect of a delay...even for a few days, would result in severe consequences, financial and other," CMS said in a "justification and approval" document explaining the lack of competition for the contract.

The contract, valued at nearly $12 million, was awarded on Aug. 9 to Novitas Solutions, according to the documents. Novitas has numerous contracts with CMS, including to administer doctor and hospital claims in the federal Medicare program for elderly Americans.

This is a typical liberal response to a logical statement that does not follow the party line. It appears to follow the rules as laid down by the Slime and his teachers.

For others, they are being priced OUT OF INSURANCE altogether:

"Tobacco surcharges are not proven to help tobacco users quit and there are major concerns that they will prevent people from getting health care coverage," the American Lung Association's Jennifer Singleterry said.

"Charging tobacco users more in health insurance premiums, sometimes thousands of dollars more, studies have shown, will price smokers out of the market," says Singleterry.

Unlike drug addicts, alcoholics, or the obese -- all of whom represent higher-than-average medical costs -- smokers are the only such group with a pre-existing condition that ObamaCare penalizes. It allows insurance companies to charge smokers up to 50 percent more than non-smokers for an identical policy.

For example, premiums for a 64-year-old non-smoker, according to the Kaiser Health Calculator, cost $9,000 a year for a standard "silver" insurance plan.

The same policy for a smoker could cost $13,600.

For whatever reason, Minnesota’s MNsure insurance exchange just doesn’t believe her.
“I feel like I’m being stonewalled, and what actually is happening?” asked Stonebraker, who is 61.“I’m not OK with calling and wasting hours and hours of my time only to have people ‘yes’ me.”
Stonebraker, of Victoria, has repeatedly logged on to the MNsure insurance online marketplace. She gets as far as the “Enter and Submit Payment” page before this alert:“The system has detected that your session has been idle for a long period of time. For security reasons, the system has logged you off. Please return to your original payment site and login again. Thank you.”
But she keeps trying. Has for six weeks or so.

Government bureaucracy is wonderful.

Just think how good it will be for everyone when Obamacare is no longer delayed and you have 300+ million people giving their credit card info and Social Security numbers to a web page that is never going to work properly.

In the real world, it is frequently possible to gain legal relief in the case of a fraudulent deal, but in the case of Obamacare, we are being told that it is the law of the land and that you simply must live with it.

As a nation, we need to decide how important honesty is. If dishonesty is employed to achieve a goal, do we just say,“OK, you put one over on us,” or do we address the solution legislatively, as we would in a civil case? What we have done with Obamacare is similar to boarding an airplane and then finding out that there are some severe mechanical problems about which we were not previously informed. We are then told that we cannot get off the plane once we’ve boarded and, therefore, everyone needs to help fix the problem and stop complaining. Obviously, we cannot stand for such outrageous behavior.

We must reject the notion that slick political maneuvering and dishonesty are inevitable in government and must be tolerated. We no more need to tolerate such things than we need to tolerate tyranny.

Dr. Carson is brilliant. Why is this man not given more time on the main stream media?

Is it because he is Black?

Yes, it must be that main stream media is prejudice against blacks. Or, that his messages are hard to make fun of because they tell it like it is.

OK, now desperation is setting in:

During today's White House Youth Summit, President Obama called on young people to do whatever they can to promote his signature health care law — including plying their customers with cheap booze.

"If you are a bartender, have a happy hour," Obama said as the crowd laughed. "And also probably get health insurance because a lot of people don't have it."

It's sure is nice to see the republicans fall on their faces again the ACA is breaking new enrollment records the Dems are united and preparing for 2014 when we taken all of the three branches of government back and we will send the President out of office with sweeping majorities like we had when he was first inaugurated but this time it will be sweeter because I vow to help take back more state house to boot.

Six people were signed up yesterday for ObamaCare by their welfare agencies, but not through the web site since you can not purchase anything on the web site yet.

6 people in one day? THAT is a new record!

2007-2008. The political left uses demagogues to win power. Despite dozens of urgent problems facing the US, the DFL forces the ACA through congress the first chance they get with a voting majority. It is flawed, but sold to the masses as the only possible solution to our health care woes. The DFL stakes all political capital on this one issue for unknown reasons and designs the law to escalate very slowly into 2018.

2009-2014. The left vilifies all opposition. Left leaning activists turn the masses against anyone that suggests the ACA to be a bad idea. This becomes useful during attempts to repeal it over the next five years.

2014-2015. In the years leading up to 2016, as the ACA takes hold and public perception turns, the left continues to blame the opposition in any way possible. The DFL positions themselves as the only party that cares for the individual and begin to blur the distinction between public and private insurers on the complicated and trouble plagued website. Liberal activists begin to defend the idea of the healthcare system in place in other countries, citing them as ideal.

2016. Hillary Clinton runs in 2016 on a platform of 'strengthening' the ACA while only acknowledging its minor flaws. She is vague while giving details, regardless of GOP attacks during the campaign. Again, the left defames the opposition in any way necessary and continues to enforce the idea of 'government insurance' to the uninformed masses. Activists continue to muse about European style healthcare in all media.

2017. The decade long campaign of demagogy results in another DFL majority in 2017, with Clinton in the Oval as the first female President. Frustration with the ACA is at peak, with voters demanding that Clinton fix what she promised. Polls show an exhausted public may be resigned to accept the European idea.

2017. The ACA collapses in Q2 2017, when states allow businesses with 100+ employees into the exchange who then drop millions from coverage, setting the stage to spread panic and providing the opportunity to move to single payer as a desperate fix for the ACA. It is forced on congress quickly with little time to debate on the measure.

2017. ClintonCare is passed, a complete federal takeover not of the healthcare industry, but of the health insurance industry. In bailing out the troubled insurance companies and rescuing millions of patients, the US becomes the largest single insurer of its citizens, finally in control of a profitable governmental branch, as well as acting as the regulator of the industry it serves.

2018. Insurance company execs staff the new department by Q4 2017 and immediately work to maximize the government investment by any means necessary. Income tax refunds evaporate as 'premiums, copays or deductibles' on government health insurance, as regulators start to tighten restrictions to drive down payments to providers. Providers have no choice but to take what the government gives them and care declines. Black market hospitals gain popularity as care centers clog with patients.

2018. Finally able to provide equal care to every American, the government now fully embraces the idea of manipulating the medical benefits ratio to the utmost extent. As care continues to decline, profits to the Fed soar into the tens of billions by Q2 2018. Despite healthcare being worse than ever, ClintonCare is labeled a success.

2019. The poor quality of healthcare allows the DFL to sell the idea of increased taxation to improve it. An already over taxed citizenry obliges, trusting the party that has brought them equal care, but commerce halts. The economy stalls due to a total lack of consumer spending power. Worldwide confidence in the dollar disappears in days and panic ensues, followed by the collapse of the economy by the end of Clinton's first term.
