EXCELLENT POST. I've been hunting for over 30 years, and can only recall losing ONE deer that I have fired at, and that was only because it ran into a state park, where I could no longer pursue it. I tracked it for over a mile, and there was a good blood trail, but it happens sometimes. Bow hunters have a much higher track record. Over that 30+ years, I have bagged at least 16 deer, far above the state average. I don't use BAIT, I don't use lights, and I don't use an "assault rifle", either.
A real legend in your own mind, glad you are so impressed with yourself

I know people who hunt deer with a handgun only, who are you trying to impress?
Nobody. Who are you trying to impress? You assert that the slightest bump will alter the accuracy of a scope-mounted rifle, and I simply say that if the scope is properly mounted, and if the rifle isn't mishandled, that the scope should stay true.

If such a rifle isn't mishandled, I don't see any reason to "sight in" a rifle each and every year. I'm not saying that it is a bad idea, I'm just saying that it probably isn't necessary.

Congress can never do it because it is congress, but blue states and maybe even some red states could tax these weapons and at least make them hard for people to purchase. A high tax on ammo and laws to prevent out of state sales could make states that really want change to finally make it happen.
Tax these weapons and ammo out of existence. It could work since weapons lovers hate taxes.
Being a Nam combat veteran I was on the receiving end of the AK-47 assault weapon and carried and used a M-16 for a year. At the end of my tour I never ever had the slightest inkling to even look at an assault weapon again.
Note since i am a Veteran I do not use the word Gun to describe a weapon. The media and even the N.R.A call them guns. For instance a handgun when I was in the Army was called a Pistol or a sidearm. Gun was only used for machine guns. Gun is used by non-military types. Veterans and active military prefer rifle, pistol, or weapon.
Anyway just my two cents, Tax weapons and ammo to death.
Peace.

I am glad you brought up the AK47 & M16 used in vietnam. This is NOT the same as the ones talked about now. Nam had full automatic assault rifles NOT the converted semi-auotmatics taled about now. BIG difference! Full automatics ARE illegal!

My military experiance indicated a gun is what hung between a man legs.

It was weapon or you did pushups or some other form of punishment.

Many Vets want to have a military weapon like they used to use, to each his own.

Tax anything that can be used as a weapon: knives, cars, baseball bats, poisen, explosives, any source of fire, anyone trained to kill with their hands, anyone who kills with any weapon.

IF firearms only could be used to kill enemies of the USA or enemies of anyone then I'm fine with any and all law abiding citizens who wish to own one to do just that.

You firearm haters I hope there is someone near you if you are ever threatned, the police are mins away when seconds count.

You are invited to break into my home and we'll see if I can hit you, OK.

BTW, military training included intuitive shooting without useing the sights.

You will never understand the concept but enter my home in the dark and I'll show you.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Libra

You're in an idealistic mood today and only want to see the best in other people. This is typical Libran behaviour, because you aren't good at facing up to harsh reality at the best of times. Today, you're ready to believe that someone is a candidate for sainthood or that they're the best thing that's ever happened to you, regardless of whether it's true or not.
