Responsible hunters know that with a deer rifle, one good bump can knock the accuracy of the scope off, so it is imperative check its accuracy yearly at a range, not in the field.
If the scope happens to be knocked off kilter, digger would rather find out when shooting at a deer, and instead of hitting it in the boiler room, you either miss it or wound the animal.
You should not own a rifle.
And you should not be spewing garbage about something that you obviously don't know too much about.

I've never lost a deer once I shot at it. You can judge me by any standards you want but you need to hunt whittail and report back your luck. I've been hunting 45 years.
Again when the target is 20 yards away if a gun is off by even 6 inches you still hit the vital area and kill the animal.
Don't worry about hunting near me because you would be trespassing and might be shot for the violation. We have gun ranges on the perimiters of our property and use them all the time, of course behind "Keep Out" signs.
EXCELLENT POST. I've been hunting for over 30 years, and can only recall losing ONE deer that I have fired at, and that was only because it ran into a state park, where I could no longer pursue it. I tracked it for over a mile, and there was a good blood trail, but it happens sometimes. Bow hunters have a much higher track record. Over that 30+ years, I have bagged at least 16 deer, far above the state average. I don't use BAIT, I don't use lights, and I don't use an "assault rifle", either.

We obviously differ in our approach, and I've shot deer over 200 yards which justifies my attitude on sighting in a rifle.
You don't need a rifle at 20 yards, a shotgun slug would be more appropriate.
You say you don't sight in your rifle, then just now say you have gun ranges on the perimeters of your property. What do you shoot there? Sling shots and hot 100?
Hey, IDIOT, do you realize that you can confront a deer from hundreds of yards away down to **10**? I use a rifle, so I can shoot a deer from "point blank range" to say, 200 yards. A SHOTGUN is USELESS at 200 yards, unless you get REALLY LUCKY, scope or NO scope. I also carry a pistol, JUST IN CASE. And if you don't think that a pistol can drop a deer, my brother bagged a 6 point buck with a single shot from a .357 Magnum several years ago, and it dropped right in it's tracks.

Well, unlike YOU, I don't throw my deer rifle around like a toy. If the scope is PROPERLY MOUNTED, it should not be altered with CAREFUL HANDLING.
My deer rifle is a Browning 300 WSM with a Leupold VX-7 scope, good for any big game in N America up to a Grizzly.
Would you purposely throw it around like a toy?
I prefer to use my SKS with open sights when busting through the N. Minnesota brush, but sometimes end up with my Browning on such jaunts. Climbing over deadfall and crawling under the same will bump me and my gun, no matter how careful I am.
I even test fire my SKS before season to make sure it's spot on.
Your rendition of successful deer hunting does not impress me in the least.

Nobody. Who are you trying to impress? You assert that the slightest bump will alter the accuracy of a scope-mounted rifle, and I simply say that if the scope is properly mounted, and if the rifle isn't mishandled, that the scope should stay true.

If such a rifle isn't mishandled, I don't see any reason to "sight in" a rifle each and every year. I'm not saying that it is a bad idea, I'm just saying that it probably isn't necessary.
