http://www.votewarsame.com/ The City Councilman Robert Lillirgen who has been representing the Minneapolis 6th Ward in the past twelve years is an American Patriot and fine gentleman. When it comes to public policy issues though, he passionately and vigorously advocates one issue that is so close to his heart. It seems other important issues that impact the Ward are not hugely important to him. For that, we can fairly say the councilman is very much one single issue oriented Councilman.
The resident of Ward 6th expect their representatives urgently tackle many issues that impact their lives in daily basis such as jobs that pay living wages, advocation of economic fairness, enhancing safety and security of their families, affordable home ownership programs, as well as so many other important ones.
In addition, Law enforcement authorities consistently target the people of the 6th Ward by handing out parking tickets and other citations. Harassment and civil right violations encountered by those lawful citizens of the 6th Ward travelers at the Minneapolis airport are well-documented. Education disadvantage in the Ward is very much unfair and unjust.
To be fair to the Councilman, I have been seeking to see or hear if there are initiatives out there in the community that he instigated that ultimately created opportunities and contributed to the well-being of the people of the 6th Ward. Although I haven’t yet give-up my quest to find those, I’m running out of luck finding them.
Mr. Lilligren failed to deliver anything meaningful for the people of the 6th Ward during those twelve long and painful years in office except using dirty tactics to divide and conquer in particularly East African community. Since he failed to produce any tangible achievement, can we afford to repeat the same mistake again by re-electing him?
Elections matter and if you don’t come vote in huge numbers in the next two Saturdays October 26th and November 2nd as well as the Election Day on Nov 5th for change, he will be re- elected. Your hopes and inspiration for better future for all and fair participation in Minneapolis politics will suffer a setback.
The DFL , Sierra Club and Firefighters union endorsed candidate Abdi Warsame is well qualified individual who has an inclusive agenda for all people who call Minneapolis home. His educational background, pleasant temperament, caring nature, commitment to progressive agenda, count everyone in mentality, and the overall forward vision he has for the city of Minneapolis are an asset and opportunity we can’t afford to waste.
His bold vision to redraw the map of Minneapolis to give a fair share for all minorities was a testimony to his visionary qualities. Many people doubted and discouraged him to continue his historic initiative, but he stayed the course. His tenacity paid off and Ward 6 got redistricted. He did all of those as an ordinary citizen, imagine what he could have done if he was an elected official.
His unyielding commitment to advocate the Cedar residents for fair housing treatment shows that he cares beyond his own household. Those kind of characteristics mean so much and signal something greater. Abdi Warsame is a man of the people. He believes all human beings deserve equal treatment.
Voters of the 6th Ward have two drastically distinct choices in this election cycle. They can stay the course with do-nothing Councilman or lean forward and say yes to a new political direction, trust a young fresh leader, explore 21st century vision, and accept a fair representation in the city of Minneapolis. I strongly believe the earlier notion is one we can’t afford to bear any longer, but the latter option is a pleasant journey that will bring all of us together.
