Sen. Rand Paul just offered to end his filibuster and allow a vote on CIA nominee John Brennan if he could get a vote tomorrow on a non-binding resolution regarding drone killing of US citizens on US soil. But Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin objected to allowing a vote on the resolution. So Paul resumed speaking.

White House Silent on Paul Filibuster The White House will not comment on Rand Paul's ongoing filibuster on the Senate floor of President Obama's nominee to be the next CIA director. A Huffington Post reporter remarks on Twitter: jennifer bendery @jbendery WH declining comment on Rand Paul filibuster. Likewise, the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from this reporter. Tonight, President Obama took a group of Republican senators to dinner at the Jefferson Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. Obama, the White House says, picked up the tab. The guest's at Obama's dinner included: Senator Lindsey Graham Senator Bob Corker Senator Kelly Ayotte Senator John McCain Senator Dan Coats Senator Tom Coburn Senator Richard Burr Senator Mike Johanns Senator Pat Toomey Senator Ron Johnson Senator John Hoeven Senator Saxby Chambliss An anonymous White House aide told the pooler,“The President greatly enjoyed the dinner and had a good exchange of ideas with the Senators.” http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/white-hou... |

durbin is a godless commie, he was against this in the seventh hour as well |

Is anyone else concerned that so much effort is being made to marginalize the opposition to or legitimize the idea that the government can just kill us when they want to? I can't believe we are actually considering a CIA director who thinks that's okay, or have an attorney general that considers it an unlikely but viable option.
This confirmation vote shouldn't be filibustered and delayed, it should be ended and Obama should be censured for having twice nominated this man. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Moral and Honorable People do not need Laws. There should only be ONE QUESTION answered before any Law in enacted; "How will this Law affect Freedom and Liberty" This is not all that complicated. The Supreme law of the American Republic is the US Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence These Sacred Documents are not "Open to interpretation"! These documents are inherently "Fair" and equally applied to all Citizens in the Republic. It is the "Laws" that Dis-Honorable Men and Women have created in their own interests, which is destroying our Country. |

Judged: 1 1 “I don’t remember any of you suggesting that President Bush was going to kill someone with a drone,” Graham said, addressing fellow Republican senators.“What are we up to here?” A visibly angry Sen. John McCain of Arizona said in a Senate speech,“I don’t think what happened yesterday is helpful to the American people.” Paul’s suggestion that law-abiding citizens need to fear attack from their own government “brings the conversation from a serious discussion … to the realm of the ridiculous,” he said. The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page, which has considerable influence among Republicans, accused Paul of “showmanship” and staging a “political stunt.” The fight has potential to influence not only the debate over the future of the GOP but the next presidential contest, already in its earliest stages. Paul, son of former Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, is a likely 2016 candidate. His success in capitalizing on the drone issue stood in sharp contrast with the off-key efforts this week of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who stumbled over his position on immigration as he signaled that he was open to a 2016 run. The drone debate wasn’t the first recent departure from the long-dominant position on national defense in Republican dogma. Last month, Republicans in Congress allowed automatic spending reductions to take effect that cut more deeply into defense than the rest of the federal budget. Meanwhile, civil libertarians on the left joined tea party supporters in praising Paul’s efforts. The activist antiwar group Code Pink sent flowers and candy to his office. “It was a courageous and historic filibuster,” said Christopher Anders, senior legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union.“The issue has really exploded with the American public, particularly among conservatives who are very concerned about what looks like a grab of authority to kill.” http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-pn... Congrats Rand Paul, shame on McCain and other establishement Republicans |
