The now familiar term "Asperger's disorder" is being dropped. And abnormally bad and frequent temper tantrums will be given a scientific-sounding diagnosis called DMDD. But "dyslexia" and other learning disorders remain.

The revisions come in the first major rewrite in nearly 20 years of the diagnostic guide used by the nation's psychiatrists. Changes were approved Saturday.

"Abnormally bad and frequent temper tantrums" will be given the scientific-sounding diagnosis: spoiled brats!
How many jobs have been created from these mostly phony disorders which are often a symptom of lax parenting?

Special Ed is big business as is the children's drug industry.
Care to elaborate, or has your Ritalin wore off?

actually it wont totally be gone. it will be placed fully under the 'umbrella' of the spectrum of autism. where many of the medical staff has been putting it for years.
.
The new manual adds the term "autism spectrum disorder," which already is used by many experts in the field. Asperger's disorder will be dropped and incorporated under that umbrella diagnosis. The new category will include kids with severe autism, who often don't talk or interact, as well as those with milder forms.
.
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/asperg... One of the most hotly argued changes was how to define the various ranges of autism. Some advocates opposed the idea of dropping the specific diagnosis for Asperger's disorder. People with that disorder often have high intelligence and vast knowledge on narrow subjects but lack social skills. Some who have the condition embrace their quirkiness and vow to continue to use the label.
.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57556754/... Asperger's syndrome will be dropped from the latest edition of the psychiatrist's "bible," the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM-5.
The American Psychiatric Association (APA) announced on Saturday the changes to its flagship manual that doctors use to diagnose patients with mental disorders. It's the first major rewriter to the DSM in nearly 20 years.
.
.
one of the reasons behind dropping it out of the book that defines mental illnesses. is that aspergers is NOT a mental illness.
.
it is however a genetic condition.

This just shows what an inexact "science" psychiatry is. Yesterday's mental disorder is today's normal.
And, vice-versa! LOL

I believe you confuse the nature of Dependents with Government Jobs in the Victims Industries, with a very real condition that many suffer from.

Those that suffer the effects of Aspergers are the latest "Product" for the Victim Professionals of the Dependents Businesses.

I believe that Amerika is up to about 237 Officially Recognized Demokrat Victim Groups who have "Community Activists" that sustain themselves at the expense of those that they purport to support, and at the expense of "we the people".

the autism spectrum which the high functioning form aka aspergers belong to. it is not a phony thing. it is a genetic condition that has been known about for generations.
.
it is not a disease. therefore no drugs will work on it. it is not caused by lax parenting.
heck, at one time autism was thought of as being caused by refrigerator mothers. mothers that were supposedly cold and not caring about their offspring. they now realize that it is a genetic condition. and if one is either a mere carrier, or is affected by the genetic condition. their offspring have a good chance of being on the spectrum themself.
even more so if one if not both parents are on the spectrum.

Matters of the heart take an unexpected turn today. You might be strongly attracted to someone you've never looked at twice until now, or you could fall for someone who's much older or younger than you. If you're already involved in a relationship, either you or your partner will want to make it more exciting and spontaneous. Is this a suggestion that will go down well?
