This trade is NOT a trade...it is strickly a "salary dump" and the Twins will live to regret it!

DO NOT make this trade!! You are essentially trading away Hardy, who was acquired for the centerpiece of the Johan Santana deal for, at the most, pitchers who MIGHT stick as middle relievers. Are you stinking kidding me??!! What a joke.

Let us not overreact on this yet. I think this leads to freeing up $ for Pavano!!

This would mean that the Johan Santana deal got the Twins, well, nothing? A minor league pitcher of dubious value? Great job BS. But you signed Mauer to an over priced contract which is forcing salary dump deals like this.

Pavano?! I'd honestly rather have Hardy. Pavano's not getting any younger, and Hardy's entering his prime. How many years did we suffer not having a legitimate SS? Good grief, Cristian Guzman was the last respectable SS the Twins had. And now we've finally got someone who could lock down SS for the next 7-8 years and we're going to trade him for didly just so we can overpay for an aging starter with precisely ONE good year to his credit?!! Come on now. Can you honestly say that you'd feel good with Alexi at SS?

You have to be healthy to lock it down. Hardy is great in the field when he plays but he's only played 216 games in the last two years, 101 last year. Apparently the Japanese slap hitter will be the starter.

agreed. you trade your STARTING shortstop AND cash for TWO minor leaguers? are you effen kiddin me?...yep, strictly a money move and nothing more...I can't believe you trade your starting SS and have no one to replace him but a career back up player ( Casilla)......this team is going to revert back to it's old self of being cheap now that they had to give into pressure and re sign the Baby Jesus..
deep down, way deep down inside, how you feelin about now Joe?....this team won't even be able to be competitive in their own division due to paying 23M to one player, nice job Twins, way to plan ahead..........on the flip side of that, I know Guzman is available to come back, maybe not a bad idea........

who care? Pavano is not worth anything near what he is asking....and everyone seems to forget how he tailed off the second half of the season, more hits than innings pitched. he won, I think I am correct, 4 or 5 games AFTER the all star break, he is NO big loss but losing your starting SS is huge, especially when you have NO ONE to repalce him, I mean W T F?

I am sure these guys will help the Twins beat the Yankees. Now we have two veteran pitchers with proven big game experience.....Oh wait a minute, never mind. Glad we have all this revenue from a new stadium to make the Twins real contenders.

twins need bullpen help. Your looking at Neshek, Perkins and Nathan replacing Capps, Crain, and Guerrier. Hardy was average at best. They are clearly upgrading the shortstop position with the Japanese hitter.

How many times have the twins held onto a guy too long and waited for him to become a decent player? Hardy batted in the .260s or something last year didnt he? He will probably do the same this year. People were complaining about him all year, the twins got rid of him for some pitching talent that they really need.

Nothing wrong with this move................ Twins dump two part time players for a bit of potential. Even if the two prospects don't make it, there's a ton of salary space now available.

Hardy has not lived up to expectations the past couple of years. I believe the Twins are close to signing a Japanese middle infielder with a LOT of speed (an attribute Hardy does not possess). Those who think this means we got nothing for Santana- get over it. We got the use Gomez for a couple of years and Hardy for 1, and we weren't going to be able to keep Santana anyway.

Hardy is entering his prime? Maybe 2 years ago was his prime because that was the last time he actually played an entire season and his production has done nothing but declined since then. If he is great why did Milwaukee trade him? You must be a relative or friend of Hardy.
