At first thought, I was disappointed in how short and devoid of actual substance this article was.

But thinking further, any story quoting Betty McCollum will be short and devoid of any substance.

So, I guess it was a pretty fair article after all.

OK, Collett and the repubs are going to replace the health care bill with something better. We need health care, fewer and few jobs are providing it. Like it or not something had to change with health care in this country.

Canada has healthcare and their economy is still growing and hasn't stagnated.

Canadians pay for their healthcare, we will too.

Both parties haven't done well, except for themselves. Maybe the voters need to get a little better educated, contact their legislators and take part in government more than they do. Quit being lead around by their noses and vote for the catchiest sound bite and get tough rhetoric.

There is no question that Collett is the choice here. McCollum is nothing but a lackey for Pelosi and incapable of cutting spending.

Ain't that the truth! Unfortunately we have the concentration of the worst of the baby boom generation, the hardcore liberal goof and their offspring in St.Paul. So we need all the rest in Ramsey Cty to vote for Collett.

McCollum will win CD4 again. What opposition does she have? CD4 Republicans,,LOL

The CD4 Republican RINOS (Chair Bev Aplikowski) is out endorsing DFL endorsed candidates RIGHT NOW.

Untell the Republican Party of Minnesota holds its stray Rino leadership accoutable, This state will be DFL for the next 50 years.

Canada also has patients in beds in hallways because there are not enough rooms and a good lot of their patients come to the states for proper medical care. They often wait so long to see a specialist they die from their condition before being treated. Don't believe me, check with the hospitals in Grand Forks and Fargo.

You can blame the St Paul Voters all you want, But maybe its time to take a Look at the CD4 Republican Party.

Bev Aplikowski thinks how you get Votes for Republicans is to Endorse $$$ Democrats.

I never had a Republican Knock on my door, but have had many Brave Democrats knock on my door. And why do I call them Brave?(I have a Large American Flag in my front yard 30' in the air)and if thats not a Anti-Democrat symbol I don't know what is!

Democrats know, when they see the American Flag on a home they know the Property owner also has a Gun! Now thats Brave..........

Why do reporters always use pejorative words like "blast" or "attack" or "took shots" when any Conservative challenges the voting record or policies of their liberal opponent? Look at the aggressive verbal portrayal attached to Collett compared to the soft, conciliatory verbiage assigned to McCollum.

This guy practices lefty advocacy journalism at it's worst.

"We still have more work to do,'' McCollum said.

Liberalspeak translation: "We haven't nationalized all of the nation's private economy yet, but we're working on that. And we're growing government jobs as fast as we can, too."

[from the story]*McCollum, however, praised Pelosi's ability to get disparate voices to find common ground."I'm going to support a leader who brings people together to move this country forward.'' McCollum said.*

She's about the only Democrat La La Land resident to do so.

In the last few weeks, Democrat Reps. Chet Edwards (Texas), Heath Shuler (North Carolina) and Zack Space (Ohio) have declined to support Pelosi's re-election, saying they don't even know who will run for speaker. Democrat Alabama Rep. Bobby Bright said late last month, "Heck, she might even get sick and die"?

Thirty-seven House Democrats have backed an extension of all the Bush tax cuts; most of them signed a Sept. 15 letter that read in part, "...given the continued fragility of our economy and slow pace of recovery ... raising any taxes right now could negatively impact economic growth."

Agree, but something is better than nothing and there's getting to be a lot of nothing for former middle and upper middle class people. Look around.

I agree with that, Jesse. We need to move forward on health care, and Teresa Collett will not vote to repeal it until she gets all Republicans elected, and then who knows what we'd get? But my proposal, which you'll see in the debates, is that the new Congress selectively defund the programs of ObamaCare, and retain those which actually do something to save lives in return for a quick repeal. I want to target health disparities (disparities between races in treatment which result in lost lives and great cost) and killer diseases with education, early diagnosis, screening and prevention, and I think there should be federal help here, although the states should lead to carry out those purposes.

Betty McCollum is campaigning for the public option. Is that what you want? It won't work, and it will hurt if not destroy the health care system we have in place.

Here are some excerpts from this debate including some about health care.

What's wrong with Mexican President Calderon? We should stand by our treaty with Mexico that created that border and make it work to strengthen our country, our border, our economy and international competitiveness. I have a proposal which I discussed at the debate when the issue of immigration came up.

Building fences all along the border is a great jobs program for some, but it would be better to build factories, with jobs for Americans, along a zone where the two countries would cooperate on security and human rights. That would protect America's long-term future and be beneficial economically. Here's the debate pieces.

The strongest case that can be made for incumbent Betty McCollum is that she might be harmless in the next session because it appears Democrats will lose control of the House and she won't be whip. She won't be able to vote for Nancy Pelosi.

But that's not a very strong case. Lien had it wrong that we (I was in the debate) were "taking shots" at McCollum. I laid out clearly why Nancy Pelosi should not be re-elected, beginning with her addiction to big-government solutions to every problem that comes along.

http://www.stevecarlsonforcongress2010.com/Re...

And I wrote and perform a campaign song that includes this verse:

Now, Betty McCollum, some say she's pretty hip,But she works for Nancy Pelosi, As the Party's Senior Whip. We need bi-partisan civility, not just more partisanship.
Vote for change, Vote for change, Vote Independence!"
