As I hear it, all Obama has to do is come up with some alternative cuts...how is that difficult unless he had no intention of cutting expenses in the first place?

How can you conceive the sequester, agree to it, bargain for it, then when it comes due you cry foul and blame the other side for holding you to it? The deal was made.

Don't want to cut Meals on Wheels? Fine. What else would you cut instead?

Yep. The Obama Administration is going to cut Meals on Wheels while they allow the following:

----------

Studying pig poop. The Environmental Protection Agency awarded a $141,450 grant under the Clean Air Act to fund a Chinese study on swine manure and a $1.2 million grant to the United Nations for clean fuel promotion.

----------

Priorities. Obama says studying swine manure is more important than feed old people.

Democrats care, don't they?

There is PLENTY to cut. Take your pick.

We need to turn this sequester into a bi-partisan war on pork. Let the dems eliminate all the GOP pork then let the GOP cut all the DFL pork spending. Could add up to trillions.

Here is one to cut instead of Meals on Wheels:

Eliminate the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC)
1-Year Savings:$76 million
5-Year Savings:$380 million
The ARC was created by Congress in 1965 to “bring the 13 Appalachian
states into the mainstream of the American economy.” The commission
represents a partnership of federal, state, and local governments, and covers
all of West Virginia along with portions of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky,
Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania,
South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The ARC provides funding for
several hundred highways and development projects throughout the Appalachian region. The commission is duplicative of dozens of other programs
that exist at the federal, state, and local levels, and unfairly focuses on a
region of the country that is no more deserving than other impoverished
areas.

That's a lot of meals.

Redeemer was confused by the topic. He always thought of meals on wheels as when his mama comes rolling in naked in her wheel chair.

Sounds good except for the fact DEMs ALWAYS want some tax increases!
Government cuts normally are nothing more than reduced increase.

MOW is operated by noncompensated staff.

How are they affected by budget cuts?

Is the Government going to cut inspectors so it's shut down?

And yet most pollsters and pundits who actually know what they are talking about say the likelihood of that happening is very, very slim.

The line of credit wasn't with the utility company, it was with a bank and guaranteed by the utility company. For the utility company to have to pay, the DNC had to default on the line of credit.

To be the amused slewchebag, or not to be the amused slewchebag, that is the question:
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of the outrageous bushwhacked,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of smart liberals,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end
The Heart-ache, and the thousand Natural shocks
That Flesh is heir to?'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die to sleep,
To sleep, perchance to Dream; Aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, will any remember you were once the spell check princess of topix?

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I got no money cuz I got no job
How I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in awful mess
I blew in town 40 years ago, I ain't seen a lotta girls since then
If I could find'em I could get'em but as yet I have'nt met'em
That's why I'm in the shape I'm in ohhhh

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I got no money cuz I got no job
How I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in awful mess
Another fella told me he had a sister that looked so fine
Instead of being my deliverance, she had a strong resemblance
To a cat named Frankenstein ohhhh....

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I got no money cuz I got no job
How I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in awful mess
It's hard for a fella, when he don't know his way around
If I can't find me a honey to help me spend her money
I'm gonna have to blow this town ohhh....

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I got no money cuz I got no job
How I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in awful mess
