now it looks like one Florida school wants to use 'trash' cameras to find out why the kids are throwing away their fruit & veggies. the stuff the govt wanted the kids to eat.

thing is, there are ways of hiding veggies so the kids do not realize they are eating them. as well as ways of making them more attractive.

I spoke to a neighbor of ours yesterday. She is the principal of a public high school. She said it's not just that the portions are small...it's that the food is so bland! No seasonings whatsoever. She said it is worse than hospital food.

Parents Upset Over Lunchtime Palm Scanner

Parents of students at Carroll County schools in Baltimore, Md., say a new policy that scans kids’ palms to pay for their lunches goes too far.

With the PalmSecure system, students hover their hands over an infrared scanner that ID’s them by the unique patterns in their skin and registers a sale, according to a report from the Daily Herald.

The Herald talked to Mike Richmond, who has two children at a Westminster elementary school. He said the scanning started before parents were given the chance to opt-out.

“I didn’t appreciate how they handled it. I’m concerned about it. I know it’s the way of the future, but it’s fingerprinting, it’s palm-printing.”

The district said the goal is to decrease the time it takes to pay for lunches since the children have a limited amount of time to eat their meals.

The controversial system is operating in three Carroll County elementary schools with plans to expand to the whole district within a year. It’s also used in many other schools around the country where there have also been concerns about invasion of privacy as well as the cost of the system. Once implemented, PalmSecure will run the Carroll County district about $300,000.

my daughter's school district uses a code that each kid is given. every kid has their own code. and it stays with them from first grade to 12th grade. parents who can log onto the district's website can not only keep track of how much cash is on hand for the meals. but they can find out WHAT that child took for lunch that day.
.
I like it. because my daughter does not tell me what she likes to eat. but this way I have a good pattern on what she will and will not eat. and so far everything has been healthy choices she has made. this way I also do not make the same food she had that day for lunch, as for supper.

Leave it to Minnesota, the nanny-state, to implement such a program.

When I was a child in school, my mom used not a new fangled technology to find out what I had fur lunch, but this crazy thing called "communication". My sister and I came home from school and TALKED to my mom, can you believe it?

Of course, we did not have iPhones, iPods, computers, Facebook, MySpace, Four Square, Yahoo messenger, texting or other ways to be disconnected from reality.

Of course, we were condemned to play outside, I had GI Joe, she had Barbie, we had woods outside and even,(GASP) rode bicycles without helmets!(they had not even thought of helmets back then. Pathetically, I drove by a "corporate" daycare the other day and kids on the playground were all wearing bicycle helmets. Sheesh).

People have forgotten to live, make decisions (good ones are rewarded, bad ones are learned from) and having to work out how to earn their own way.

Crassus is right, food is the LAST thing you need to be thinking about regarding this issue.

More government intrusion and control over US Citizens.

reason the troll said that I didn't need to know about it. is that he claims I am fat.
.
back then, monsters like my ex-husband did not have also those forms of communications like they do now. like facebook, myspace, youtube, etc.. which is why it was safer for kids to play outside. as well as most parents believed in the myth of the pedophiles like my ex-husband to be more of the dirty old man in a trench coat.
nor did places like apartments, townhouses and condos refused to allow kids to play almost on top of the doorstop to where they lived
.
as for the code. it looks like other school districts. these being OUTSIDE of Minnesota are using them too. it makes it faster to get the kid paid and off to his or her seat to eat the food the kid picked out.
.
when I was in elementary school during the 60s. the only time my parents ever were in contact with the school to deal with me.was during two types of things, either the parent-teacher conference(which I had to stand outside the room for), or when the school nurse called my mom. t

stop trying to claim that I am a libtard.
.
what I am. is a Republican parent who is trying to raise a kid in the same manner that my parents raised me. as in they also had us on school lunches. even though my parents were by then upper middle class folks. but ones who grew up poor. it was much easier for them to have me eat a meal from the school instead of me eating what my mom might have concocted. and folks. trust me, while she was alive. you did NOT want to eat what she thought was proper.
.
plus, I'm not the one who checks out what my daughter ate for lunch via the computer. I might ask her on what she ate. it is her dad. he wants to make sure that she is not only eating properly as well. that she is also not wasting her fool.
.
there is one difference between my parents and me. I got involved in her homework. I don't do it for her. but I will mark what she has wrong and send her back to redo it. until she gets it correct.
.
plus, it is called technology in what they are doing. I bet many of you folks do the same thing . but you folks use a credit card in order to speed payment when you head out of where you are working to find a eatery. school is the time that kids learn on how to behave in the outside world. this includes learning on how to be faster without dawdling.
kids are better at learning on how to deal with technology than adults are.
.
plus. I am not trying to force folks to eat what they do not want to eat. it should be up to that person. I am NOT queen obama. both her and her husband need to get out of the White House and let someone else be president.
.
remember, I know about allergies. queen obama obviously thinks that there are no such things as allergies to things like fruit and veggies.
.
I also believe that kids should be allowed whole milk if they are used to it. instead of just the water milk like they have now aka skim milk.
.
for those who do not think that technology should be used in schools. like key codes, computers. how about this. give up all your fancy stuff and go live with the a Luddites group like the Amish. just remember that technology is nothing more than a tool. a tool that can either help or hinder a society on how it is not only used. but if you fear it or find new ways to use it to help others. while making a bit of cash from it on the way....
.
just remember that there were a few grandparents most likely fought against using screen projectors and movie projectors to help teach various matters in school. when they were the new tools in school. same goes for electric lights.

Interesting! I obviously have my facts all wrong on this one. Thanks for the links.
in my case, I don't trust my ex except to try and kill me.
he got himself a libtard lawyer. one who managed to keep that felon out of jail. on the basis of my ex being mental. I'm just POed that my ex never served any time for his felony. pedos like him should NEVER EVER be allowed to use the 'insanity' clause.
found out later that monsters like him get advice from other pedos to go seek certain mental meds. this way if they are caught.....
.
and again that sod-brained troll got my life wrong again. when I found out about my ex. I kicked his monster rump out, turned him over to the Feds by turning in evidence on him. then I'm the one who started the divorce proceedings against my ex. why would I want to go thru the abuse my ex heaped on me while married to him. I do NOT stay married to monsters.
.
as for peeking on my ex. forget it. I dont need eye bleach. plus my ex no longer even lives within 7 miles of my house. I try to stay out of the area he lives in.
.
and the jerk I see keeps thinking that I am fat. I'm not like my ex-husband and his current wife. my ex is most likely a size 4X.

Dismissing Her Critics, Mrs. Obama Forges Ahead

CHICAGO — Michelle Obama announced the name of the best picture via satellite for the Academy Awards ceremony in order to promote the arts among children, her principal constituency, she said in an interview on Thursday. And if people didn’t like it, she added, that doesn’t bother her (They will soon enough HA!).

We’re going to be approaching those filmmakers to do some things in the White House with kids all over this country who, sometimes, that’s going to be their hook, watching that movie that inspires them,” she told a small group of reporters during a two-day, three-city trip to promote her anti-obesity campaign for children, including a new initiative to increase physical education in schools.“I want to connect with those people, and then I want to pull them in (by their spinal cords into the retraining centers).”

She chalked up criticism of her Oscar cameo and other recent television appearances to the modern media era and the public’s fascination with her activities.“My bangs set off a national conversation,” she acknowledged.
“It doesn’t have anything to do with me,” she said.“Anyone in this position has a huge spotlight, and in modern-day media the spotlight just gets more intense. I don’t attribute this to me or Barack. The culture has just shifted.”(That and I own the media and I like the publicity)

She elaborated on what being part of the first African-American couple in the White House (and on of the worst for African-Americans)— and one of the iPhone generation (uh, okay)— had meant so far (nothing).“We’re a young couple, we have young kids, we grew up with limited means (that became unlimited thanks to government!),” she said.“Our stories are the stories of so many faceless, voiceless people.” She added,“My life isn’t new, but it’s new to a lot of people who haven’t seen this up close and personal.”(you will now see, no say in the mmatter)

In the interview, held in a conference room at the McCormick Place convention center in Chicago (the mob capital), the first lady also hinted at a more international second-term agenda (more tacos in schools).

But she said that whatever work she would do in the second term would probably build on her efforts to help (BRAINWASH) children.“I am powerfully moved by children (we can use them so easily),” she said.“I need to have them in my life (they will vote for commies like me if I brain wash them now!). They keep me focused; they keep me directed (towards my communist dreams).” She added that “if I do anything internationally I want it to dovetail with the work I do domestically,” making certain that it “is linking back and being real to people here.”

Mrs. Obama has largely tried to stay out of hot-button issues like gun safety.“The question becomes who defines what’s contentious and controversial,” she said.“I can’t think along those notions because everyone’s definition of what’s controversial is different.” She added,“What I don’t want is just to do something to satisfy someone’s idea of what’s controversial.”(She wants to decide for you)

Mrs. Obama spoke to reporters shortly before she announced an ambitious plan in front of 6,000 Chicago-area children to increase physical education in the country’s public schools with the help of private companies.

Under the $70 million program, the first public-private partnership of its kind, schools will be able to apply for grants to assess and improve their health and physical education programs, with the goal of getting children to exercise an hour a day.(they will use their thumbs to write about why they hate the 2nd amendment)

“This is an earth-shattering, awesomely inspiring day,” Mrs. Obama said in an emotional speech announcing the program in her hometown.“I grew up just a few miles from where we are today, over on the South Side.” She said that “being active was a way of life” back then, even though “my family certainly wasn’t rich, our neighborhood was barely middle class.” She recalled jumping rope and going to a summer camp for low-income children.

“Where would I have been without those activities that kept me busy and safe and off the streets?” she said.

The program is supported by Nike, which will provide $50 million over five years to help set up programs and spaces to get children to exercise. Other groups will give a combined $20 million for grants, training and other resources to help develop exercise programs and other health programs in schools.

A random note on Mrs. Obama’s years going to camp: One year she was not named best camper because she cursed too much.“I was, like,‘Man, I am really getting out of hand,’” she said.“That left an impact in my mind.”

Don’t tell her mother.

Apparently, the schools are offsetting this mall-food deficiency by offering “unlimited” fruits and vegetables making it sound like upon entering the school cafeteria you will feel as though you’ve stepped into a European open-air market with apples, peaches, bananas, grapes, and broccoli falling at your feet!
