Well, DUH!

Light rail is the only option that these buffoons will endorse.

Billion dollar boondoggles and inept politicians go hand in hand.

Yeah, they wouldn't want to put any additional transit into Dakota, Scott, and Washington counties, who are paying almost 1/2 of the LRT taxes collected. Have to make sure the DFL payola communities are completely covered first.

It is so nice that Hennepin County gets 7 of the 16 seats on the Met Council, and the chair(for 8 out of 17).

If you look at the resumes of the people on the council, it is quite obvious why the projects selected are selected.

Metropolitan Council positions are appointed by the governor, slumdog slewchebag millionaire.

Hennepin county, according the the 2010 Census has 40.4% of the 7 county metro population. How is it all the light rail projects and all the money spent so far end up in Hennepin county? Seems like so real proportional representation and fair funding, all from an appointed body the citizens have no ability to vote out.

If ya calculate the needed LRT lines to handle JUST the commuter traffic you realize there isn't enough realestate to accomodate the needed LRT lines to handle JUST the commuter traffic.

LRT will NEVER haul the people much less the frieght etc of the metro area.

Met Council, a socialist group of like-minded bureaucrats deciding what's best for us taxpayers. Washington county jumped into mass-transit pool, raising taxes within the county, without an indication that the additional funds would be used in the county.

Hegberg's deciding vote to accept the transit tax cost him re-eection.

I have to laugh at the met council's statement:
"Bottineau LRT is projected to provide approximately 27,000 rides a day by 2030"

Ahh...these are not commuter rides.

Naming LRT as the “mode of choice” for the Bottineau Corridor—which runs from Minneapolis to Brooklyn Park, passing through Golden Valley—is an important step toward moving the project forward. The Met Council also selected the “locally preferred alternative” route along West Broadway Avenue in Brooklyn Park, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad corridor and Olson Memorial Highway/Trunk Highway 55.

“Bottineau is key to the region’s future development and continued economic success," a news release quoted Council Chairwoman Susan Haigh.“As the Metropolitan Council works to build a 21st century transit system, Bottineau LRT will provide residents and employees of the corridor greater access to major destinations in the metro area through links to other major transit corridors.”

"Continued economic success"???????? Really?
