You know there are people who want to live in Rochester and work in the cities.

They have a right to a rail line to get them to work, and a fast one at that.

What the phock, a friend lives in Effie Mn and she is damanding a LRT line to she can work in the cities. Why not an Effie line?

Ya know that is close to Ely, the line could be extended to Ely and pick up a few more passengers, making it profitable.

Why NOT, we are all rich and a BILLION per line is peanuts.

And you know what they say, "Build It And They WIll Come".

High speed rail from Mpls to Chicago might make sense. High speed rail to a city you can drive to in less than 2 hours is asinine. This will end up being a heavily subsidized boondoggle like the Hiawatha line.

As for the "busloads" of employees Mayo needs to transport, tell them to either drive, or move.

More evidence we have some serious spending problems in this state.

No way man! I'm already worried about the St.Croix bridge bringing over the garbage from North Saint Paul.

I too support an Effie LRT, but only if it also goes through Togo. I would take the Effie LRT just to go to Deer Lake Charlie's.

Did you mean "bankruptcy", because with all the blather, it's hard to tell ?

I see a lot of stupidity, name calling, and hatred for other people's needs...

What a "life", huh ?

Poor con, continue to waste it, the best plan for you....

The sad aspect of building BILLION dollar rails etc is that even IF the line loses hundreds of MILLIONS a year the Government will NEVER shut it down. Once it's built it will continue bleeding the taxpayer dry for many many years. Of course you understand that.

Paradigm shifts are ignored by Government and programs go on and on..

An article in the PP yesterday:

Waste to energy programs in Minnesota represent a $400,000,000 investment making it unthinkable to shut them down, according to Judy Richter. Who is the director of Minnesota's refuse to energy programs in Counties and Cities.

"We have no choice, we made this commitment", said Richter.

"Since when do we mothball something with tremendous value"?

Watching the good mony flow after the bad money.

And this is why it's SOOOO darned important to NOT built these questionable projects. If EVERYONE isn't on board supporting a project it shouldn't be built!!

Now you're just making sense and we just can't have that. Not in the land of 10,000 spending problems.

Of course when these hundreds of MILLIONS of dollar projects start the supporters say: "50% of the project is funded by the Federal Government so it's much less expensive than it seems".

But at the tail end of the projects the likes of Judy Richter all of a sudden it's a $400,000,000 commitment.

And so goes the 'Good Money' after the 'Bad Money'.

Victoria Reinhardt (RCC) on the other hand says "right now we are at a crossroads".

"We are NOT going to continue this into perpetuity", says Reinhardt.

It's time to contact Reinhardt to support her thoughts.
