Australia:'Angry Summer' made worse by climate change: Commission

Source: Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The latest report from the Federal Government's Climate Commission says the weather extremes experienced around the country this summer were made worse by climate change.

The report - The Angry Summer - says the extreme heat, floods and bushfires experienced around country were all aggravated by a shifting climate, and it warns the trend is likely to continue

Climate Commission chief Professor Tim Flannery says that while Australia may have always been a land of drought and flooding rains, the nation is now experiencing a "climate on steroids".

Australia isn't alone in this, although the extremes are possibly more evident here at the moment.

It's now officially autumn (fall), and we have flooding in the north-east of the country, bushfires in the south-east, and here in Sydney we're experiencing unseasonable heavy rainfalls accompanied by wild winds that are normally seen only in late-winter to early spring (August).

And polling suggests that Australians are poised to elect as leader a man who doesn't believe in climate change and has promised to repeal the Gillard government's climate change legislation, weak though it is.

What will it take for people to sit up and take notice?

Wasn't it "Global Warming"?

Why was the term changed to "Climate Change"?

It was decided the Globe wasn't warming enough to continue to use the term "Global Warming".

So the radical fear mongers coined a new phrase "Climate Change".

What rabbit will they pull out of their hat when the Climate doesn't change?

Will the next disaster be called "Average Climate"?

It's called management by emphasis of some alleged change caused by humans. President Obama is a wizard at it.

Only illiterate teabaggers don't believe in science. 90+ percent of scientists and meteorologists believe global warming is occurring and that man is contributing to the warming.

But I wouldn't expect someone without a high school diploma like you to understand.

Why was the term changed to Climate Change?

Minnesota winter this year was normal and continues normal, NOT WARMER.

Easy question.

You can't argue with someone that doesn't believe in science and I have no intention of doing so.

Last year was one of the hottest years on record in the US and the world.

Climate by nature deals with longer periods of time, not a month or two. The last few years - indeed the last few decades - have been among the warmest on record.

Only illiterate teabaggers don't believe in science. 90+ percent of scientists and meteorologists believe global warming is occurring and that man is contributing to the warming.
