Are cars protected by the 2nd Amendment? Your comparison is as bogus as you are.

AND all the complex regulations on cars are preventing the weapon (car) from killing more people than any other weapon known to man.

32,000 deaths by motor vehicle in 2011

while 11,000 gun murders in 2011

Everyone knows drunk drivers just buy a car and keep driving. How many repeat drunk drivers go on to kill?

While if you kill with a gun you will end up incarcerated.

Government fails in its mission to protect the public.

They fail because many elected and Government employees are guilty of breaking the law. So they tend to go easy on Government employees because they are in the same club.

Of course COPs are human and when they pull over a relative or driend they also go easy on them.

A trooper once told me: if a COP ever tells you they never gave a drunk driver a ride home with no ticket they are not telling the truth.

The system is broken on the inside....

Ban cars and guns! Ban the Constitution while you are at it!

What else can we ban? How about murder? Or rape? Or drugs? Or assaults? Or Liberal crackpot ideas?

The batshit crazy extremist is you. If you are going to do away with the 2nd Amendment, then you ought to get rid of cars too. There are a lot of the environmentalists that will go along with that one.

The cost of highways are financed through user fees. So we'd certainly want to finance the cost that guns cost society each year through user fees as well.

Let's take the cost of armed guards for our schools.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, there were 98,817 public schools during the 2009-2010 school year.

A typical salary with fringe benefits and employer taxes would be somewhere around $40,000 per year for an armed security guard.

98,817 times 1.25 (you'd need more than 1 guard per school to cover vacation, training and sick days) times $40,000 equals 4.94 billion dollars per year.

The are 270 million firearms held by civilians in the US. 4.94 billion divided by 270 million gives an annaul tax of $18.30 per gun per year.

Of course, I didn't add anything in for uniforms and additional insurance needed for having armed guards on the premises, and administering the new tax.

Now we'd certainly want to pay out a fee for each shooting death. There were 12,632 homicides in the last year I could find stats for. I'm not sure how you value a human life, but let's say one million per life.

That would give us 12.63 billion per year, or $46.79 per gun per year.

Now we are at $65 per year per gun user fee.

Next we could factor in all the additional police officers required by having all these guns floating around.

Owning a gun could become quite expensive...

Many urban schools already have armed security guards, cost already covered. They protect against the use of all weapons in schools not just guns.

Of the total homicides in the USA: how many involved a firearm? How many were on school grounds? How many were commited by a law officer? How many were comitted by a felon ON a felon?

If you think each murder is related to a school you are confused and stupid.

There are now about 300,000,000 guns "floating around", how many are used in a school shooting?

The flip side, how many people are floating around with a severe form of mental illness?

How many of those nuts have access to a lethal weapon? Examples: fire, guns, knives, poisen, motor vehicles, clubs, etc?

If one of the many weapons available are banned will that prevent mass killings?

Remember, Jim Jones killed 900 with poisen, Bill Clinton/Janet Reno killed 76 (22 kids) with a tank and fire, 1927 45 mostly kids were killed with explosives, many nightclub fires killed near 100 each, etc etc etc.

An armed guard in a school protects the kids and staff from all harm. Not just firearms harm.

IMHO if schools were secured with hardened entries, strong windows, deadbolt classroom locks, safe rooms in each classroom (many have these now) the need for armed guards would be reduced to times when kids were entering the building.

Also if school staff could be equiped with defensive tools like mace, tasers, firearms, clubs, numbchucks, etc the need for armed guards would be much reduced. Also school staff with defensive tools is more effective than a armed guard who would be the first target of a crazed killer.

Logic: if you have an alarm system on your house you DON'T want a sign saying so. Because then a burgler will know he must defeat it.
Same with a defense at school, you don't want a killer to know his/her enemy.

Question: Why do these mass shootings happen at locations where guns are not allowed and it is posted saying exactly that?

You need to get out more. Airports are protected by security guards on traffic lanes to the gates and everywhere in between. Additionaly there are armed pilots on planes. Much like having armed teachers.

Take your garbage to a trash can. Have YOU been checked for mental illness recently? It's past time.

How many cops are at airports?

The animals who commit these crimes don't go where they will meet resistance. An elementary school in white upper class suburbia is the perfect place to slaughter innocents. A police station...not so much.

He spends days in a windowless DARK basement playing violent video games.

His mom trusts him with lethal weapons to build his confidence.

However his mom has given up and will commit him soon to a mental institution.
