Oh no. Slewpid defends the "rights" of convicted murderers, rapists, kidnappers, pedophiles, serial killers, etc over the rights of the victims and their families. It's all because they think that literally every one of these animals can be rehabilitated. Which they cannot. Some can, probably, but not most of them. Like Slewpid, they are sociopaths. Their brain chemistry is irreversibly genetically damaged.

Because killing is to good for them. Too easy a way out. Unless it happens before when they are caught in the act or while being apprehended.
I suppose the victim and their family could kill them as they want

Since most, if not all of the people in this Iowa prison are felons, I'm pretty sure they can't vote and rightfully so.

Actually under leftist pressure the state of Iowa has "reformed" it's voting laws (happened last week)... Once you get out it's much easier to vote... even if you're a convicted murder. Therefore if all you want is votes and it says democrat under your name meet your new constituents

To vote in Iowa, you must be a registered to vote. To qualify to register to vote, you must be:

A U.S. citizen
A Iowa resident
At least 17 1/2 years old (must be 18 years old by election day to vote)

You cannot:

Be a convicted felon (unless your voting rights have been restored
Be judged mentally incompetent to vote by a court
Claim the right to vote in any other place

This is wrong on so many levels. Women shouldn't be working in men's prisons and vice versa. And, basic TV should be adequate for all prisoners. But, saving money and avoiding law suits never crosses the mind of a government employee. Maybe we should privatize prisons, maybe let the Sons Of Anarchy run them! LOL

Ever since Branstad returned to office in January 2011, those would-be applicants were required to pay off all their court costs, fines and restitution fees before they were eligible to even begin the application process. The governor has LOWERED that bar slightly so that would-be applicants now have to prove they are making a “good faith effort” to pay off those financial debts to society and to their victims.

The new application process also no longer requires applicants to obtain their credit history reports and submit them to the governor’s office. For the past two years, civil rights advocates have complained that such a requirement — which they say was the only one of its kind in the nation — amounted to a nearly insurmountable obstacle for the applicants.

The changes surely will improve what, in practice, has been a policy of near blanket disenfranchisement. Last month, The Associated Press reported that — out of 13,000 felons who had completed their prison and parole terms since January 2011 — fewer than 20 had managed to navigate the process successfully and have their rights restored.

The ACLU of Iowa estimates that the change concerning restitution payment alone will make thousands of additional Iowans eligible to apply.

P.S.
Maine and Vermont, never take away voting rights for felons — not even during their time of incarceration.

Male or female, this should have never come up in the first place.

We're talking about a maximum security prison here. No TV for these animals. No "common room" or cafeteria privileges. No time in the yard or the gym. Maybe a book once in a while if they stay quiet.

I thought I was hard core, fast track to Ol'Sparkey for murderers. But, if we are going to lock-up these people they have to be entertained in some way to keep them from killing each other.(more lawsuits.) There should be earned privileges for good behavior, just like with pets.

Killing is too good for these kinds. It's too easy a way out. And they can't fight with the other inmates if we keep them in their 6 x 8 cells. Besides, it's cheaper than the death row appeals process. As for privileges, maybe for the "lesser" criminals. But the mass murderers, serial rapists, child molesters, generally deranged sociopaths, etc...ok, they can have a Popsicle once in a while if they be quiet, behave and don't eat their one book a month.
