As gay marriage comes to Minn., midnight weddings abound; Rhode Island making it legal, too

Dozens of gay couples began tying the knot early Thursday morning at Minneapolis City Hall as Minnesota became the latest state to legalize same-sex marriage. Full Story

<quoted text>Your avoiding my question. The discussion had nothing to do with civil law or first amendment or separation of church and state. Rick In Kansas used the name Jesus to admonish those who were not accepting of his homosexuality. I was only trying to determine, seeing he used Jesus and the bible in defense of his situation, what religion actually condone his homosexuality. You interjected that you were not ignorant of religion and because of your knowledge, you chose not to be involved. Yet when face with the same question, you basically refuse to answer.
My conclusion, after attempting to drag it out of two people, is there probably is no major religion which support homosexuality, and therefore I find it somewhat hypocritical quoting bibilical verses when attempting to defend it. Perhaps I just wasn't asking the right people.
In case you weren't paying attention, the pope just called to stop the judging. There are some Episcopal denominations that activly support marriage equality, and there are plenty of religious folks who believe judging and treating others as lesser people is not in accordance with their faith.

There is but one version of Jesus and his teachings, and according to you, the Catholics don't have it. Is that about it? Who does? The Jews? The Church of the Later Day Saints? The Wisconsin Synod of the Luthern Church? Rick In Kansas, you made a claim that Jesus preached inclusion and tolorance, so which religion is the true one?
Which Religion condones the male on male, female on female sexual relationship? I am trying to understand.
There are many versions of Jesus and His teachings, to believe otherwise is to be in complete denial of reality. Jesus decides who gets it right sweetie, not us. Haven't you read the book?

Disagree. If John Wesley Hard-on pulled a pair of assless pink chaps out of his bedroll one night in the middle of the drive, and started limp wristing his Single Action Auto, there'd be hell to pay. If there were any "unwanted advances, they'd find a tall tree and a short piece of rope I reckon.

You have just the oddest homoerotic fantasies for a straight man.

News flash for you sport, not all men with an eye for men are on the feminine side. You might not guess it from the way I to talk to folk here, but even more than 30 years out, I still get confused for straight. If you like your women 40-60, hang out with me sometime, it's like moths to a bug zapper. If I really thought swinging that way would be worth it and had aspirations of being a sl*t, it would still probably be easier for me than most of you actually straight fellows in the room.

Police say that GAY RIGHT LEADER Larry Brinkin had pornographic images, some that appear to show children as young as 1 and 2 or 3 years old being sodomized and performing oral sex on adult men, in e-mail attachments linked to his account, according to a search warrant served by San Francisco police.

This is typical homosexual behavior.

<quoted text>Well I don't have Websters definition, but I believe the most common definition would be having sex with a person of the same gender as you. Now I know you knew exactly what I meant, but your need to seem superior just had to be displayed. As I understand it, the pope is more than just a Catholic Man, He is the appointed/chosen leader of a church that numbers in the billions. And, according to many who have studied this religion, the pope can and does tie his linage back to Peter, who Jesus was said to have annoited as leader of his Church on earth. That is pretty impressive.
Argumentum ad populum, not all that impressive when you think about it.

No, that is the typical behavior of a pedophile. Did you know that twice as many little girls are molested as young boys? Is it OK, since they are of opposite genders??? BTW, children between the ages of 2 and 4 are the LEAST targeted age group for pedophiles. Do you have an actual link or are you just making this up as you go?

<quoted text>I actually believe I referred to Pope Francis in my orginal post, indicating his position. He said who is he to judge, but reaffirmed his church's position as to Homosexuality as regards to same gender sexual activity. My Question was and I guess is, what major Christian Religion has recognized same sex/gender activity? While I did see some links to various relgious sects that Joe supplied, we are talking referring to Wikapedia, who sources are often suspect. Rich in Kansas referred to Jesus Christ and him being inclusive and not judging, yet no where has anyone shown me what major Christian Religion actually condones sexual activity among same the same gender. Therefore I find the reference to Jesus Christ, a bit hypocritical.
Frankly I couldn't care less about a major religion supporting same sex marriage, as I think they are all variations on the same crock of ****.

That said, United Church of Christ, as well as some Presbyterian and Anglican Churches.

Ultimately, I don't think one can, in good faith and without hypocrisy, claim to be a follower of Christ, while simultaneously casting judgment on homosexuals. It is an issue that various churches will have to address, and the contradictory nature of the Bible will make that a difficult process. However, if one really looks to Jesus Christ as Christianity's namesake, and looks at his words and deeds, I don't think they can make a case for casting judgment on homosexuals or loving the sinner while hating the sin.

These contradictions are much of the reason why I elect to refrain from faith. Too often they are used as a wedge to divide us, when we should be coming together.
